“Taken back to English Aristrocracy”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 17, 2014

Went there for a weekend trip and was more than 100% satisfied with our stay there. The hotel is 4* , but i would say the service and ambience was almost a 5* experience. Getting soaked up in the nature along with british aristocracy ( living in a tudor time manor house) was just great. Although a few miles away from the A road, you feel as if you are in a totally secluded area with its own parks and farms. They close the main gate at 11:30 PM , so please ensure that if you plan to go to some place nearby, you inform the reception of your return time. We went to bath one evening (just 12 miles from the hotel) and the narrow country roads between the two places is just what an enthusiast driver like me wants:)

Overall, i would give 5* to this hotel, not just for its service , but for its location as well

Room Tip: Try and book the Chinese or the Vine room, with excellent views to the Park

I rarely agree with how Hotels describe themselves but I could find no better way of describing the Ston Easton ambience than their own words ‘ ‘The surroundings are grand but the ‘upstairs downstairs ’formality has long gone. There’s fresh laughter instead of hushed whispers and warm welcoming smiles instead of stiff upper lips.

This is all true and we were made to feel just so at home and so welcome as if it was our own Palladian Mansion. Ston Easton is blessed by not having a Gym or Pool so I didn’t feel guilty not using the facilities to keep fit, rather we could just cool and enjoy what today is a very rare and pleasurable experience.

A group of five couples booked a short break at Ston Easton Park Hotel on the 10 / 11 Feb 2014. We arrived mid afternoon on the 10th. Feb and were welcomed by Brian Jarvis and his staff who completed the necessary formalities in a very cordial and efficient manner and with the minimum of fuss . We were guided to our rooms ( which had been upgraded from the standard rooms booked ) by a very pleasant lady who also showed us all the hotel's amenities
All the bedrooms we saw were quite magnificent ; beautifully decorated with antique furniture which had clearly been chosen by someone with great style and skill . The bed in our room was enormous and the bathroom was something quite special , with a double walk - in shower and a feature bath in the middle of a very spacious room.
Clearly a lot of thought had gone into planning and furnishing the rooms and for me just about everything was provided to ensure that we felt totally pampered .
Apart from the slightly dim lights in the bedroom ( which the ladies don't seem to like ! ) , there could be no reasonable cause for complaint so I won't bother . There were also plenty of plug sockets
I did see one reviewer make the point that his room could have been warmer . For me the temperature in the rooms and throughout the hotel was just about right , not forgetting it was February .
Ston Easton itself is a magnificent mansion in substantial , mature grounds which are well maintained and very attractive , even in mid winter. The walled kitchen garden was well worth a visit and during the summer months must be particularly delightful . There are also some well walked trails around the estate and if you're lucky , Oscar , the friendly hotel dog might even show you around !
The hotel provides several lounges and a library for the residents , all of which were exquisitely furnished with very comfortable settees and chairs. There was however no bar but in the event this didn't seem to matter !
At dinner , we were provided with a private dining room , made even better because the table was round so it was easy to talk to any member in the party . The room itself was simply beautiful and the table was laid out in a manner fit for a king .
We had a different five course " taster " menu on each night both of which were truly quite magnificent - beautifully prepared with local produce and lovingly served. Not even Michel Roux Jnr could have complained !
The chef also came to speak to us so that we could thank him personally .
All of the staff were really attentive and very friendly . Nothing was too much trouble which I guess is at should be ( but not always the case ! ) Again , I can't think of any reason to complain ; indeed , more likely to be extremely complimentary .
So all in all I would give the hotel top marks , coupled with my grateful thanks for a truly memorable stay . I would certainly visit again .
Well done Ston Easton !!

We have visited this hotel several times over the years and the one thing that never changes is the level of service you receive from the staff. They are so friendly and efficient and extremely good at what they do. The food in the restaurant for both dinner and breakfast was of the best quality with wonderful presentation of the meal itself. There is a noticeable lack of hotel signage around the site and this all adds to the feeling that you are visiting a friend's house for the weekend. Look forward to returning in the future.

I love Ston Easton Park, the staff are very welcoming and friendly, there is a relaxing atmosphere with a cosy lounge & open fire in the winter. I had lunch today with my father and brother and we again very much enjoyed the food - faultless. We understand that there has been a new chef in the last 7 months which is clearly evident as this is the 3rd visit we have made since last November and I have booked again for next weekend. Must not forget the lovely Oscar in-house chocolate cocker spaniel who is gorgeous and is often seen wandering about and lying in the warm lounge by the fire.
Would not hesitate now to recommend Ston Easton Park either for a casual or formal lunch or an evening meal with is equally very enjoyable.

Had a birthday lunch at Ston Easton Park today and it was wonderful the food was exquisite the service was excellent, the setting and attention to detail was second to non. Would not hesitate to recommend this place for either a special occasion or just to get away from it all ! You pay for what you get and I got it today . Thank you Ston Easton for a great birthday ! Hopefully I will be back soon

We had a lovely stay recently at Ston Easton. The food was excellent and the staff made us feel very at home. We stayed in a state room, which was grand in its proportions (much like the house) with an interconnecting room for the kids. The grounds are great for exploring - and they will even lend you the house dog to take with you. Whilst the hotel has a sense of grandeur, its not as posh (in the stuffy sense) as some other country hotels and instead has a much more relaxed and family atmosphere - which is exactly what we were looking for.
