“Beautiful Facility & Great Service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 7, 2013

The Ston Easton is a gorgeous facility. Lovely inside and fabulous grounds. Beautiful sitting and dining rooms. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the dinner and breakfast were both great. Overall, a very nice stay. However, a couple of minor comments. The paint and upholstery could use some freshening. Also, our room was a bit dark. Brighter lighting would have been good. Still, a wonderful traditional English manor house, and I would highly recommend.

This hotel has the genuine look and polished smells of times past. It would be more true to say that it is a period country house with excellently appointed rooms. We stayed in the Pink Room, and thoroughly enjoyed both its decor and comfort. Staff are motivated, efficient and very accommodating. We were warmly welcomed by reception, and our dog was greeted with equal courtesy by Oscar the spaniel. We also enjoyed our evening meal taster menu, which was carefully and tastily constructed, without any challenging stretches. Lovely grounds. Recommended.

Another 'special offer' weekend away and we loved every minute.

We had a room on the front overlooking the gravel drive and a beautiful tree. We were allowed to open our own wine in the library, staff even gave us glasses and an ice bucket. All meals, especially dinner (and the bread basket!!), table ware and staff were excellent - could not fault the dinner, breakfast or the serving staff. Will definitely go again on a deal..Great location for weddings by the way!

Room Tip: Our friends wanted a four poster bed, but we swapped as they preferred a bigger bed. Both rooms were...

I booked through the visit bath website. A room for a Saturday night at £185 for bed and breakfast
Ok, I know the name of the hotel, and I know it has/had a good reputation, although I had never stayed before.
We were warned that we had booked the last room in the hotel when we phoned to make a dinner reservation, and told that it hadn't been refurbished and was 'very beige'. That's ok, but what wasn't ok was the fact that the room wasn't as clean as we expected. The grouting around the bath/shower was mildewy. The ceiling mounted lights were full of dead insects and the windows hadn't been cleaned on the inside for some time - fly spots and cobwebs! The room was also very noisy, it was over the back door to the kitchen, so there was a lot of crashing of bottles after we went to bed. Also I think we must have been at the top of a staircase where the glasses were stored. There was so much clanging of glasses, I'm surprised they still had some whole ones left. However, the bed was very comfortable, and when the noise stopped we slept well. I did complain on checkout and the room bill was reduced by £85.
When we went down for dinner we had to go to reception to scare up a waiter for pre dinner drinks, although there was supposed to be lounge service. We had dinner in the restaurant and our daughter and her husband joined us. A lovely reception room and dining room, but I drew the short straw with the main course. I ordered the fish with sweet potatoes. Unfortunately the potatoes were undercooked and the fish was dry. The rest of the family enjoyed their food, fillet steak and lamb, if I remember correctly. I wouldn't hasten back for the food. The ambience was all a bit old fashioned and hush hush.

We visited Ston Easton in the evening for a 3-course meal, considering the building, the luxury, the star rating and the service, the £49.95 for 3-courses is incredibly reasonable.

We were initially greeted and seated in the lounge area, drinks were immediately offered (a wide range, even Bath Ale!) as well as a very tasty salmon fish-cake amuse-bouche courtesy of the chef.

We chose from the varied menu and were then escorted into the dining room, our drinks carried for us - its a little quiet in there but as you would expect for an English manor house.

The three courses arrived very efficiently in succession and were all incredibly presented, very tasty and fresh - the portions appear to be small at first, but after consumption, we were both suitably stuffed! The meal included freshly baked bread.

Overall, a great experience - the staff were efficient, the chef and his team are clearly perfectionists, and the building is simply beautiful following what appears to be a fairly recent refurbishment.

We'll definitely be returning!

We have been staying at Ston Easton Park on and off for more than 25 years so have seen several changes of ownership. Nevertheless despite some upheavals that have taken place over the last couple of years, we were delighted to find everything running smoothly. The staff were excellent and couldn't have been more helpful. The girls at the front desk looked after our dog while we were in the restaurant at breakfast time and in the evening. The set menu at dinner time is expensive but the new chef is outstanding. Each course looked like a painting and the flavour combinations were unusual and delicious. The staff were assiduous about remembering our dietary requirements and even provided special canapés without us having to ask or remind them.
I always thing you can judge somewhere by how they deal with things when they go wrong--we were there for three nights and one afternoon we came back to find that housekeeping had inadvertently overlooked us and forgotten to clean our room and left for the afternoon. Nevertheless this was dealt with promptly the room was cleaned within half an hour, we were not inconvenienced, and the manager personally came to find us in the grounds to apologise and to offer us a bottle of champagne .
We look forward to another visit in the future.

We stayed for one night at this hotel and enjoyed our short stay. We were made very welcome and all the staff were polite and friendly. Our room was located at the top of the house with lovely views across the lawn and fields. We did not dine at the hotel, but breakfast was very good - plenty of choice and well prepared. We particularly enjoyed our walk before breakfast with Oscar the dog! We will stay here again...
