Following a recommendation from friends I have stayed at North Wheddon Farm a couple of times and now also thoroughly recommend it. I have used it as a place to stay for a romantic long weekend, and a whole week away, where we can take long walks and occupy our time doing very little apart from admiring the views and local coastal areas – and both my girlfriend and I love the tranquillity away from the noise of West London and it really has put me in the good books.

The countryside is stunning and the service and banter you get from Rachael and Julian is second to none (as are the very entertaining kids when they make an appearance). They have also fully grasped when guests want a bit of peace and quiet and to be left by themselves reading a book in front of the fire. The rooms are superb, especially the self contained flat, however it is the food and rustic atmosphere that really stick in the memory as I trudge back along the M5. The cooked breakfast and the various dinners I have tried there are excellent and the vast majority of the food is sourced directly from their farm which suits me perfectly. My vegetarian girlfriend was less inclined to eat the cute animals – so she just played with, and talked to, the various animals living in the farm (dogs, goats, lambs, geese, pigs et al)………….oh and the vegetarian food she had was also excellent! The fully licensed aspect of the restaurant has also led to some entertaining evening
s spent on the red wine and port.

Don’t expect nightclubs – but it really is a lovely (and high quality) B&B to go and have a relaxed few days away from it all.

Real comfort and generous hospitality. Even in January a great place to explore the moors and drive the dramatic coastal toll roads. The farm setting is stunning with a variety of animals roaming around enjoying the good life Who needs to go out at night when Julian's food is on offer by the open fire (Licensed too!!)
