Excellent!

We spent 2 nights here, a great little pub/guest house very handy for Cheddar Gorge, Wells, Street, Glastenbury and Wookey Hole.

Nice friendly owners and staff, the rooms are very good and the beds are very comfortable and very clean.

Excellent food at good prices including fresh fish and steaks, full English breakfast first class.

We would recommend The Pound inn to anyone.

Room Tip: Only 2 rooms, one is a double ensuite the other is a double + a single bed ensuite. both very good.

We only stayed for one night as a weekend get away to see the local area but would definitely stay again, The room and en suite were both large, spacious, immaculately clean and very comfortable. Everyone there was really friendly and helpful from the moment we arrived making us feel very relaxed and welcome. We had an evening meal and breakfast, both were delicious and filling. We would recommend this place to anyone wanting to stay in the area.

Decided to visit Somerset for our one year wedding anniversary and I've gotta say we couldn't of asked for a better place to stay. So many times you go away for a few days and you pick somewhere to bed down and it's just that, a place to lay your head. The Pound Inn is so much more. With Terry's fantastic kitchen skills, Anne's attention to detail with her two immaculatly kept rooms, Olive and Tor's awesome sense of humour behind the bar, this place is a must for anyone wanting to see the real Somerset. Situated 2 miles outside of Wells, we got to go exploring in the day, walk ourselves til we ached and then come back to some gourmet level food, good beer (and cider) and belly splitting laughs with the locals. We would advise if you want an awesome place to stay that's not just your normal 'throw your clothes here' kind of deal, then book a room and have a giggle.

Room Tip: With only two rooms you can't go wrong. Both are amazingly kept and very beauitiful.

Arrived to a warm welcome from Anne and Terry the owners who let us into our room earlier than expected to get changed for the wedding, having missed breakfast at home in Essex to get on the road early, they kindly made us a mountain of toast and marmalade to fill the void (much appreciated). Arriving back at the Inn that night and I decided on a nightcap in the bar, great Guinness and some fantastic real ales (which I didn't try - next time though) and good company, what more could you want Slept well in comfy bed in a room that was ideal for us and had a fantastic breakfast the following morning. Perfect, traditional, lovely. The only negative . . . we couldn't stay for Sunday roast! Will next time though.

arranged months in advance for a trip to this pub/hotel to see a live band. The landlord promised to reserve a table for 4 with a view of the 'stage' as we were having a pre show meal in the restaurant at the rear of the pub. However while we were eating the 'locals' arrived and were, of course, given all the reserved seats. After our meal we had nowhere to sit or stand to see the band we had paid £10 per head to see. Refund ? you must be joking...........

Room Tip: avoid this place and go to the vineyard down the road instead.

We stayed here for 5 nights over the Easter bank holiday, and were made to feel very welcome by the hosts, staff and locals. Our room had a king size bed which was very comfortable and the room was lovely and cosy. The food here as previous visitors have mentioned is indeed excellent. Huge portions all local meat and fish produce and freshly cooked. The fish and chips are so good the locals come in for their take outs. You can have a full english breakfast in the morning or smoked local fish which my Husband tried and said was delicious. We had a light breakfast on the Sunday morning so we could have the Sunday roast dinner which was lovely and
huge too! There is plenty of choice on the menu and you can even have fresh mussel's which I would recommend trying. We visited the area which is close to Wells and Glastonbury and ideally situated for the many nature reserve we wanted to go to. We throughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend this B & B if you like traditional country pubs with good beer and pub grub. The hosts Terry and Anne work very hard and made us feel very welcome as did all the staff. We love the area of Somerset and will definately be booking a stay here for our next trip.
