“Fantastic family room, friendly and helpful service and a great price”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 28, 2012

We were lucky enough to spend a night in this lovely hotel and would happily have spent more. Our family room (we were 2 adults and 2 children of 7 & 9) was in the old part of the hotel and had more room than we have ever encountered before! We had a double room, twin room, lounge, bathroom and an anteroom with dressing table too. None of it was modern but it was clean, had everything we needed and was full of character.
The hostess/manager was very welcoming esp since we had booked it via bookings.com 15 mins before and she even let me use her computer to order a takeaway delivery and gave me crockery, cutlery and napkins so we could eat it in our lounge.
Their car park was full but there was plenty of parking outside free after 6pm and all day Sunday.
I've seen complaints about breakfast but it seemed fine to us. Plenty of coffee, juices etc on tap, fresh fruit, yoghurts and cereal (bowl fitted cereal perfectly so I suspect the previous reviewer used the fruit bowls which were smaller). The freshly cooked breakfast and toast was also to a good standard.
I would happily recommend this hotel to anyone and visit there again.

I know Bridgwater fairly well, but had never been to this cafe/restaurant/ lodging before. I wish I had. Beautiful location - and there arent many of those in Bridgwater! - friendly staff and decent, clean facilities.

The courtyard parking is slightly challenging, though there are places outside too, the buildings are "original" but refurbished to an entirely decent standard, the in-room facilities are modern and fully- functioning (though the wifi was a bit weak) and there is good access to local ameneties within easy walking distance - notably the adjacent Church, if you are of the devoutly religous persuasion.

Bridgwater is unexceptional at best; in contrast, this hotel is as good as any I have discovered South of Bristol, and would make an excellent stopover to break the journey along the M5 to or from Devon & Cornwall. I stayed on a Bank Holiday Sunday and the room cost me £65, which I thought was reasonable ~ not much more than the entirely decent but soulless Travelodge, significantly cheaper but no less charming than the eclectic Plush Hotel at Bristol airport

My Android tablet has a problem selecting category scores ~ whatever happens in the next section, i mean to score it "Good" across the board

With daughter and grandchildren it is always a concern as to where to stay. This was perfect accommodation for a family and such good value. Reasonable size rooms which included a lounge area and dressing room. Tea and coffee facilities and a good supply of tea, coffee, chocolate drink and biscuits. Breakfast was excellent - a quaint, very English and lovely setting. Excellent parking facilities too. We stayed her en route home from Devon - it was perfect. Much better than a travel lodge, or premier inn.

Stayed 1 night. I shopped thro the internet and this was the cheapest I could find in the area with availability and was not disappointed. Good communication, they rang me the day before to see what time I would arrive and if we wanted dinner. Room was small and adequate for 1 night. Parking was full but parked in street only a few metres away. Occasional shouts in the street at night but I expected that in a town centre on a Saturday night. Breakfast was very good. - Recommended.

The Old Vicarage is in the centre of Bridgwater. It is Olde Worlde, breakfast was good.
The room was large as was the shower room in St Mary's Room. It was very convenient to local facilities etc. Good choice for Breakfast. It was a little noisy when the pub clubs kicked out but it was not a problem.

Room Tip: St Mary's Room very good.

Nice, clean and well decorated. Very Squeaky floors in the area I stayed in and small car park but okay for business trip. Didn't try the food and was out before breakfast but I hear from others that the breakfast is good.
