“Middle of the road - Good portions”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 24, 2012

Recommended by locals in Bridgewater. First impressions were fair as the entrance from the car park is not welcoming. The interior is good with modern furniture. I ordered smoked bacon quiche on a rocket salad base which was then served with a watercress base. Small point maybe. For the main course I chose one of the day specials, pork steak on a bed of mash with gravy and vegetables. A good portion and reasonably cooked. No room for dessert. Service was courteous. In my view no attempt to be anything other than reasonable pub food.

“Excellent night out”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 17, 2012

Excellent food at a reasonable price - 2 courses for £16 + £3 for steaks. Perfectly cooked, generous portions. Good atmosphere and friendly service. Would recommend.

“Awful!!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed September 14, 2012

We recently booked for Sunday lunch, a carvery, and were bitterly disappointed. Firstly we had to queue outside the toliets with the kitchen in full view. The choice was only beef or gammon, very unusual for a carvery. The beef was totally over cooked and dry as a bone. The gentleman carving the meat was extremely rude, abrupt and unhelpful. The meat he was carving up can only be described as the consistency of corned beef. He used his gloved hand to gather it up and throw it onto the plate. When I asked if he could not cut the joint through the middle he growled at me and literaly threw the meat onto my plate. We were about to walk out but as it was late and we were with an elderly relative we decided to have our main course but cancelled our desserts. The room where the carvery was looked less then clean and there was a used catering bucket into which the rejected bits if food were thrown into. Terrible food, terrible attitude and terrible service!!

“Value for money”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 8, 2012

Excellent service, reasonably priced food with generous portion sizes. We were warned that the food may take longer than usual as they had a couple of large parties in, but it still arrived quickly and there was plenty of it! I had the goats cheese & fig roll which was delicious and my partner had the garlic mushrooms which was a massive portion! The mains were also good, although I was disappointed with the chips which were soggy and could have done with being cooked again to crisp them up! We couldn't manage desserts but looking at the adjoining diners, they appeared good!
