We have just returned from this country hotel feeling recharged for Christmas. We stayed just the one night for my birthday and didn't want to leave. On arrival we were welcomed by Richard a friendly young man who showed us to our room. Only our bed at home can beat this one. I had the best nights sleep and rarely sleep well in other beds. The room was immaculate, tea, coffee, and biscuits, even a glass of sherry to sip whilst enjoying the jacqzui bath. The owners, Paul and Sarah are so lovely, ALMOST wanted to pay more as they are so lovely. Kind and warm and we pray their hotel is known across the globe for excellent service, food and the general lovely feeling to Woodlands. Oh, and I forgot, the hotel had a roaring log fire in the bar, sipping our wine and listening to carols...bliss......think i've used the allocated amount. Thank you Sarah and Paul, God Bless you and your sons and Spikey the dog and a very Merry Christmas.

We booked a 1 night stay for our 5th wedding anniversary. We needed accomadation only 30 mins away from where we lived as it was the first time leaving our 3 year old daughter over night not with grandparents but best friends.
On arrival we were made to feel so welcome by Paul and Sarah the owners. Paul showed us to our 4 poster ensuite room which was perfect then we went downstairs in the sitting room for a wonderful cream tea. Paul gave us advice on a great walk to the knoll which we did to walk of the cream tea!
We had a wonderful 3 course candle light dinner there just me and my wife in the sitting room and Paul even though not working made the effort to come in and make sure all was ok.
We had a great nights sleep and then a wonderful breakfast and again Paul and Sarah both came in and asked if everything was ok.
These are genuine people running a comfortable country house and a great standard and we can't wait to come back.
Thank you Paul and Sarah for everything , Firefighter A Rutter

We stayed at Woodlands for two nights as part of a longer 7 week trip around Europe. What a spectacular find!!! Paul and Sarah were friendly, gracious and helpful hosts. After staying at so many bad places, it was such a welcome relief.

The grounds were beautiful. Our room was clean, well maintained and very nicely furnished. The bed was comfortable - which we found was a rare treat on our trip. We had dinner there on one of the nights and breakfast on both days. The food is AMAZING!! Even if you don't stay at Woodlands it is definitely worth a trip for the restaurant. We had a delicious 3 course dinner and a scrumptious full breakfast.

Staying at Woodlands was one of the accommodation highlights of our trip. It is a beautiful place with lovely hosts and fantastic food. We highly recommend it!!!!

I chose to celebrate my 40th birthday at the woodlands hotel as I wanted an intimate, country house venue, and I couldnt have chosen a more perfect place! All my girlfriends sat around a huge table piled high with all manner of crafty bits, making VINTAGE BUNTING!! having a great time - finding hidden talents (lots of other craft options were available) followed by an amazing high tea with champers, finishing up in their cosy bar in front of a roaring log fire, what a perfect day! Not only is it a beautiful house in a lovely peaceful setting but the welcome my friends and I received was amazing, Sarah's attention to detail is superb especially the yummy high tea served on grand 3 tier cake stands surrounded by vintage china and fresh flowers. Thank you Paul and Sarah for a wonderful and unusual birthday.

On arrival we were met with a very warm welcome by Sarah, we stayed in room 8 which was lovely, clean & cosy with a fabulous view, the complementary sherry was the "icing on the cake!" We would strongly recommend eating there, in particular the citrus prawns were amazing! Compliments to the chef. Also Paul makes an awesome full english breakfast! You certainly wont leave hungry.
Over all would thoroughly recommend the Woodlands and very much look forward to a return visit.

We were married at the Woodlands last week and we can honestly say it was the perfect venue for our small, intimate family wedding. All our guests, without exception, commented on the stunning setting and some said it was the most beautiful wedding they had ever been to! From the ceremony itself in the 'oh so romantic' Somerset room with the sun streaming through the windows to the magnificence of the single, long, wedding breakfast table setting,- the whole atmosphere was fantastic!
Pe-wedding, Sarah was amazing and calmly saw to every detail,- co-ordinating the flowers to match my bouquet, dressing the cake and creating gorgeous displays with our candle stands. Nothing was too much trouble. On the day, Paul and Sarah were the most wonderful hosts with Paul's friendly personality lighting up the bar. We were so thrilled that everyone had such an amazing time!
I would strongly recommend the Woodlands to anyone who wants a small, intimate wedding like ours. We only had 29 guests but because the hotel was exclusively 'ours' it felt like there were many more. We can't thank Sarah and Paul and their excellent staff enough for making our wedding day so special!

Room Tip: Front rooms are bright, warm and sunny but they're all lovely!

I have recently celebrated a 'special' birthday with my family and friends at the Woodlands Hotel and had a wonderful experience. Sarah and Paul were amazing, fantastic hosts to all of us, including my family who also stayed overnight at the hotel. Sarah paid attention to every detail and met everything that I wanted and more. We had an evening dinner for 25 guests. The table looked beautiful and the detail and personal touches were very special and appreciated. The food was delicious and every guest commented on how much they had enjoyed their meal, it was hot and the service was good. The Woodlands hotel holds special memories to my husband and myself including our wedding day many years ago and this celebration can also be added as a special memory. I would recommend anyone looking for a relaxed and warm friendly environment in beautiful surroundings wanting first class food and service to consider the woodlands as their first choice. We will once again return when the next 'occasion' arrives. Many thanks to Sarah and Paul and all the staff at the woodlands.
