We visited Park Hall a couple of weeks ago, with our 20-month old daughter, on a glorious sunny day, and we all had a really enjoyable time.
From watching the cows being milked and ponies being groomed, to watching the pig racing, taking tractor rides, walking through the maize maze, holding the rabbits and guinea pigs, playing in the playbarn...there's something to suit everyone's taste and age group, and our daughter was enthralled throughout.
The fact that the weather was fine made the visit even better, as we could spend more time outdoors looking at the various animals (alpacas, ponies, highland cattle), bouncing on the space hoppers, visiting the maize maze and going on a barrel train ride (pulled by a tractor) whilst waiting for the pig race. This was hilarious and so much fun to cheer your chosen pig (my daughter's orange pig won!). There are also regular tractor rides through the day which take you on a tour around the farm and fields.
Overall prices are reasonable for this type of attraction, though there are some extras to pay for some of the activities. Indoors there is a fair amount to do also (the highlight being meeting the small animals), though clearly on a wet day you may miss out on some of the outdoor attractions. There is also a cafe serving drinks, sandwiches and hot snacks, which is fine for a light lunch or a mid-afternoon recharge.
There are further activities for older children too, such as the 4x4 driving, quad bikes, and larger playgrounds. There are also the museums to visit (Victorian School, Iron Age Roundhouse and Welsh Guards display), which are interesting and educational.
We found the trick is to plan your day around the various timed activities, to get the most out of your visit.
