“A wonderful stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 18, 2012

We last stayed here in 2008.
The ownership has since changed, but the welcome was a warm as ever.
It is a well run, friendly, clean and comfortable, ideally situated base for walking in the locality.
We stayed in 'Ashbracken' with its lovely views of Ragelth Hill.
Breakfast was very good and every need was catered for with a smile.
The 2 local pubs (easy walking distance) were excellent, with the food in the Green Dragon being better than the Ragleth Arms we felt.
We would definitely stay again and would have no hesitation in recommending it to friends.

We have just returned home from our third stay at Mynd House and each time the hospitality, welcome, room and breakfast have been exemplary. This place is a lesson in how a guest house should be run, with attention given to every detail that makes guests feel comfortable and well looked after. Everything is spotless and our rooms each time have felt like they have been freshly refurbished just for us. Breakfast is delicious, fresh and cooked and served to perfection. The best local ingredients are sourced and offered in profusion. We are looking forward to our next visit to Fran and Maurice's palace in the lee of the Long Mynd!

We stayed at Mynd House over the recent bank holiday and had a lovely stay. The house is very well located for making the most of the lovely contryside around it, especially the Lond Mynd. We would suggest a visit to the the local pub which is very nice and just a short walk from the house. The room was very comfortable and our hosts couldn't have been more helpful. When we next come to Shropshire, Mynd House will no doubt be our base.

Fran & Maurice are welcoming hosts who have come out of early retirement to buy and run the Mynd House. It is an extended Victorian building set up high from the main road in the village of Little Stretton. The rooms are very varied and are sited along rather rambling corridors. We stayed in Caradoc, which is a twin room slightly on the small side but well furnished and with a good bathroom. It has a small fridge (as do all the rooms, I think) in which there are various drinks and snacks along with a small jug of fresh milk. (A thoughtful addition to the tea making equipment – I hate UHT milk)!

There is a comfortable sitting room and a well appointed bar, although I never saw anyone using it.

The breakfast is very good – both the cold buffet and the hot dishes. Just one small complaint – we stayed for three nights and had three breakfasts and every morning the toast was cold.

The situation is excellent for walking and exploring Long Mynd and there is a good pub/restaurant, The Ragleth Inn, 50 yards away where we ate every night.

We stayed at this B&B as we were attending a wedding reception in the village hall in nearby Acton Scott.

The B&B is in a tranquil and scenic location. The decor is a bit old fashioned, but I think this adds to the charm (I normally prefer modern hotels). The owners were really friendly and we had a really good nights sleep.

The breakfast in the morning was absolutely fantastic- so much choice from local suppliers and they offered a really nice vegetarian cooked breakfast too.

It's a shame that we live fairly close to the B&B, otherwise we would love to stay there again!

Room Tip: Book early, as there are only a few rooms

ynd house is raised up on the side of a hill with lovely views over the village of Little Stretton and the hills around. It is perfectly placed for a visit to Church Stretton or Ludlow and nearby is Long Mynd which, if your brave enough to drive up the slightly scary road, has beautiful views. We were shown to the Hazler suite by Fran and instantly felt at home. The room is lovely, with a four poster bed and a spa bath! It has a lounge area with two armchairs, a big flat screen tv and a fridge containing local produce. We also had a well stocked beverage pot with tea, coffee and hot chocolate. In the bathroom we had gilcrest and soames toiletries and bathrobes. Downstairs there is a bar area and lovely lounge with plenty of information on local places to eat and places to go. We ate at Jaipur Indian restaurant in Church Stretton which was very good and reasonably priced. We returned to a very comfy bed with good quality linens. We had to leave early the next morning but Fran and Maurice were more than happy to make an early breakfast. To start there is a buffet bar available with a very wide range of cereals/muselis, fruit juices and conserves. We then had egg on toast which was lovely but a full breakfast is also available. Fran and Maurice were also able to make my partner a lovely packed lunch for his shooting day. We were sad to spend such little time at Mynd house and when returning to the area will defiantly stay there again. Thank you to Fran and Maurice for making us feel so welcome.
