We stayed here for 4 nights and in general were satisfied with the accommodation and food, but thought the hotel could be significantly uplifted into the present day as regards what is now expected to be offered in really good establishments. Our room was rather poky, though the beds were comfortable and the room though faded, was clean. Some lights didn't work, and the bathroom was rather cheaply laid out. Breakfast was OK in a standard sort of way - cereals, fruit juice a bit limited, and marmalade/jam in the usual dreaded little peel-off containers. Hot food well presented and good standard, with friendly staff, though only the choice from bacon, eggs, mushrooms, sausage etc etc were available. One problem for people who come to Witney on B & B for several nights (not the fault of the owners) is that the town is a virtual gastronomic desert - bog-standard evening meals are the norm. We had to go to Woodstock and the Trout south of Bampton to find anything of quality. Verdict - quite OK for 1 or at most 2 nights, but not longer owing to the difficulties mentioned.
