“Traveling to Thame”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 5, 2014

Stayed here many it times before although sometimes we have stayed elsewhere on high strret. This time offered us best value for money we had a quick stop arrived about 5-30pm booked in offagain to see family returning at 11pm off again by 9am. Did not stay in the lodge long but it was nice to see the refurbishments comfortable mattress and better put up beds in family room although still a bit thin on padding so used spare duvet off other bed

Checked in here on the 31st March for 1 night.
On arrival at Reception, I found nobody on the Front Desk but, by ringing the buzzer, a staff member arrived fairly promptly.
I was allocated Room 20 in this single-storey lodge. There were no towels in the bathroom / bedroom and a short journey back to Reception resolved this omission.
The Travelodge is a 10-minute walk from the town centre and having dined in one of the local restaurants on the High Street, I returned to the lodge just before 10:00 in the evening.
The "DreamerBed" ensured that I had a good night's sleep although a rather noisy batch of wedding guests woke up most of the Travelodge just before midnight. Hotel etiquette - what does that mean?
The shower was not the most powerful on the planet but it ticked the box. The bath is on the small side.
The cost which included a credit card charge of £2.00 plus Room Cancellation Insurance at £1.95 equated to £66.95.
Would I return to the Thame Travelodge? Possibly but make sure that there are no wedding reception guests checking in.

Room Tip: Rear of the lodge will be quieter.

Stayed here for two nights for work. The receptionist was really friendly and helpful. The room was spotlessly clean, the bed was really comfy, the shower in the morning was a good pressure and lovely and hot. There's no restaurant but a Burger King and little chef next door.

The alternatives must be considered. This is one of the worst ever hotelnights. I will not book another Travellodge stay before taking a good look (smell) at it before. The air in the hall indicated molds, the room confirmed it. I don´t have allergies, I survived

The hotel itself was good however the sink in the bathroom was dirty and there was only one towel for two people. there also was a smell when we first entered the hotel room. However overall these issue were fixed and the stay was good an had good nights sleep

A comfortable and welcoming budget priced hotel - expect absolute convenience rather than 'all frills luxury' - staff most courteous and helpful, garage shop offers good range of essentials, including coffee and hot snacks.
VERY comfortable beds, hardly conducive to an early morning start!

I have stayed here a few times and due to stay again soon. If you book early enough you will get a good price, otherwise you may as well stay at an independent hotel or B&B.
This is pretty standard fare for a Travelodge, so don't expect the "luxuries" of toiletries, hairdryer etc. Always a good idea to take extra coffees & biscuits too!
On my last visit I had to wait quite a long time to check in as the only receptionist was off somewhere within the hotel. I pressed the buzzer lots of times before he eventually returned. I had to ask for extra pillows and I had to wait again as he had disappeared once more.
The rooms are comfy and clean but basic of course. Certainly fine for an overnight business stay.
Food is available in the Little Chef next door - usual overpriced low quality standard of their dishes I'm afraid. Breakfast is served in there too and is cooked to order. As there is a petrol station on site there is a rather useful shop selling food and papers etc which can be handy if you have assumed there would be toiletries in your room! When I was last there, there was a very small Burger King next to the Little Chef too.
All is the usual Travelodge standard but the one massive drawback here is the location. It is within walking distance of Thame but, as a visitor with no car, I took my life in my hands trying to get to the hotel. It isn't on a motorway but there is a huge and extremely busy roundabout between you and the hotel which took me about fifteen minutes to negotiate last time and had my heart racing. It's fine for car drivers, but the hotel is more or less off limits for those on foot. Last time I had to pay for a taxi just to take me to a hotel that was within easy walking distance.
The hotel staff were entirely unsympathetic about this and there is nothing on their website to warn travellers about the accessibility.

Room Tip: All rooms seem to be a similar style and quality.
