My wife and I have stayed and eaten at The Crazy Bear a number of times over the years, and obviously we kept coming back because we liked it ... but not anymore; they have gone rapidly downhill and I note in other reviews that many other people feel the same way.
Part of me thought it's a shame, but it isn't a shame; it's a shambles - our last stay will definitely be our last ... ever.
We booked into one of the (top of the range) Infinity Suites, but on arrival discovered there was no hot water and thus we were unable to use either the shower, the bath or wash at the basin. We were assured an engineer would come and fix it.
No engineer ever appeared, and so the anticipated joy of the infinity bath with all it promised remained a useless/unusable extra ... we went down to dinner unclean and uncomfortable and unhappy.
Dinner was very good but we both noted the menu has been drastically stripped back over the years and the choices much reduced.
In the morning we went down for breakfast (not included in room price by the way) and upon our return to room discover we have hot water but no time to enjoy the Infinity bath that is the main feature of the room.
Upon mentioning this at Checkout, I was informed that I had to pay the bill 100% and they would discuss compensation later ... well after 2 months of emails, and too late for me to cancel the card payment, they are now offering me a £100 refund ... you do the maths...
This experience has ruined it all ... The Customer Service is utterly appalling and possibly the worst I have experienced anywhere in the world. It could have been sorted out easily, quickly, and with less kerfuffle but no ... and to top it all they now insult my intelligence with a pathetic offer like this....
So, if you decide to ignore my advice and book a nights stay here, do NOT pay up in full unless you are really 100% sure you are happy ... they will NOT treat you with any respect, will insult you and leave you with bad memories rather than joyous ones .... a Rip Off
AVOID The Hotel part of this operation (The restaurant is good though... )
