Description: The Cotswold Plough is a perfect example of a 16th Century, stylish yet informal hotel. The hotel is perfectly located to explore landmark Cotswold towns, the rolling countryside and the Dreaming Spires of Oxford. Bampton, home to Downton Abbey, is right on the doorstep, Burford only 15 mins away and is the nearest hotel to Kelmscott Manor home to William Morris in 1878. The Cotswold Plough has 11 elegant, confortable and spacious en-suite bedrooms, a restaurant and a bar serving local ales, quality everyday dining options, open fires and a sunshine terrace for Al fresco dining. The hotel offers something for everyone all year round, with an idyllic charm that allows guests to relax in comfort and there is free Wifi throughout. The restaurant serves an a la cate menu of seasonal mouth-watering dishes. Whereas the bar offers a more traditional British menu and the hotel's most unique offering: a Gin Pantry with over 150 individual gins and an incomparable knowledge of these drinks and their accompaniments.

We've stayed here several times at Christmas and during the summer with a group of friends and had a fantastic time. The food is excellent and service efficient and friendly. Would go back any time.

“Great pleace to stay with excellent food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 13, 2012

We stayed here for one night on their stay Sunday night offer and I have to say we were very impressed. The food was excellent, well cooked with very large portion sizes. There is an extensive wine list to compliment your meal of choice and they have over 80 gins and many types of tonic!!!! Absolutely fantastic for gin lovers. I only managed to try 4 different types of gin so will definitely be going back. The room was spacious, clean and tidy. The waiting staff were very friendly and helpful. They have a lovely garden and patio area to sit out in if the weather is nice. Would definitely recommend and will be going back again.

“Wonderful evening with delicious food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 13, 2012

As a couple we came here for special occasions in the 80's and thought we would have a nostalgic return for my birthday - now some 20+ years on with our grown up children. Still the same beautiful setting, very different internally, still very welcoming. Amazing selection of gins which we were introduced to smelling their different aromas.
Food delicious and lovely cheese selection. Staff very attentive without being over bearing - great (we don't like being constantly asked if everything is alright with our meal, service)
Wonderful evening, the sun shone so we had drinks on the terrace before going through to the restaurant. We will be back to try lunch menu.

“Relaxed and friendly but very special”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 24, 2012 via mobile

Went to the plough on a beautiful summers day to celebrate our anniversary. Sat outside on the terrace which was very pretty on the warm evening. We were excited to try some of the different gins of the 80 odd on offer and had some excellent advice on which we might like. The food was excellent with decent portions and the sundried tomato bread for the table was a nice touch. I had the pork rilette followed by the seafood risotto and my husband had smoked salmon followed by roast chicken breast. Both were delicious with the seafood cooked perfectly. The restaurant also had a good wine selection and even had (by some coincidence) the wine we had at our reception when we got married 2 years ago. The service was excellent and the girls who served us were attentive and polite. We will definitely be back...after all we still have 76 gins still to try!

“Great Birthday lunch.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 23, 2012

A long liesurely al fresco lunch in the first proper sunshine of the year, with faultless food and attentive service. It's hard to imagine anywhere we could have had a more enjoyable experience. Beautiful surroundings and a lovely selection of fellow diners, young and old, all clearly enjoying themselves. Many thanks.
