“Absolutely perfect....!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 13, 2013 via mobile

We have dined at Langar many times and always loved it, so decided to hold our wedding reception there. It was absolutely amazing in every way!
The food was delicious - we had cheese soufflé to start, lemon sole and beef Wellington for main and lemon tart for dessert. The service was brilliant; Avishek and his team catered to all of our needs - of which we had many - nothing was too much trouble for them. The staff looked after all of our guests very well too - few of them had visited Langar before, and they all commented on how wonderful it was.
The venue is beautiful in every way - very quirky and interesting. We couldn't recommend it highly enough.
We will definitely return; hopefully well before our wedding anniversary next year.

We all loved your wedding too. Did you see it on face book? Could not resist putting on such a beautiful couple and your wedding invitation too. It was fun for everyone. Please do come back. Here is wishing you every happiness in your married life. Its against the rules to mention you by name but look forward to seeing you again.

We had been due to stay for a special occasion about 3 weeks earlier & had to cancel at the last minute due to illness. The Hotel kindly agreed to let us switch the date. The Bedroom was extremely comfortable with a very appropriate décor for this lovely period property and had a very homely feel about it. Bathroom rather more functional than luxurious but there are no doubt old property constraints at play ! We had an enjoyable evening meal which was at the top end of what is available within a 20/30 mile radius but not in the creative league of what is fairly routinely available when we stay at similar establishments overseas these days. Although the staff were all very pleasant we did feel very sorry for one gentleman in another party who seemed to be entertaining two guests and had made his allergy to onions absolutely clear when ordering his food. Having been assured his choices were all fine, he queried his starter when it arrived & it had to be changed for something different (by which time his guests had eaten their starters) and it turned out that they had to change his main course too (but at least that was before it actually arrived). This is not really good enough from any establishment - let alone one of this quality & carelessness like this can spoil people's evenings.

Room Tip: We stayed in the Brownlow.

Thank you for your helpful review. I am sorry that you were upset by the mistake made at the table next to you. While our restaurant manager was on holiday and I was away Michael was asked to take the orders in our absence. He has been looking after the dining room for 22 years, knows everyone and hates taking orders, He forgot to tell the chefs about the allergy to onions which caused a wait while the dish was changed. He is so upset now that he will never be persuaded to take an order again The customer knew and forgave him and I prefer him to look after the dining room and the customers. Our food is seasonal, locally sourced to reflect the English character of this unassuming country place. We are not looking for Michelin stars, just appreciate happy customers coming to relax and enjoy time together in this beautiful surroundings.Your comments are much appreciated.

We booked the Indian Room for my son's 30th in December, never have we experienced anything quite like Langar, to try and describe this experience is quite impossible; a few things come to mind, homely, quirky, very eccentric with exquisite food, very personable, exceptional service, you soon become to feel very at home, it is quite remarkeable.

When staff remain for numerous years, that in itself is telling.

Just book it.

So glad you enjoyed your party. The Indian room is perfect for those occasions and as for the staff, well if they can put up with me for 3 months they never leave. They look after me well too! Thank you for taking the trouble to write such a nice encouraging review.

My husband and I stayed at Langar Hall for a 'date night'. On arrival you are treated like old friends and you quickly relax - I found myself saying that I felt really at home. The whole place is exquisite in a quirky and slightly eccentric English way. Imogen is delightful and welcoming and you feel you have known her for years instead of just one evening. Afternoon tea in the garden room from a silver tea pot in china cups was perfect.
The service is attentive but unobtrusive - Michael one of the waiters particularly charming.
Then we come to the food! We had just watched the banquet of the Great British Menu on TV and I can say that we felt we had our own culinary feast in the restaurant. The balance of the flavours in the dishes was spot on and there were lots of local ingredients - absolutely delicious.
Our room again was unique and romantic and quite beautiful to stay in with a huge bed and wonderful pillows.
So we had a fantastic time and I would highly recommend. I hope to return soon!

Thank you for that lovely review. I have printed it out for the staff to make them happy and feel appreciated. I have been to Tokyo for 5 days so have a bit of catching up to do hence the delay is sending you my appreciation. Hope to meet you again.

We spent a fantastic weekend at Langar Hall with a great friend who was celebrating a special birthday. A classic Country House Hotel where you are made to feel totally at ease from the moment we arrived.
With our own private dining room we were looked after brilliantly throughout our stay with very attentive service but allowing us to feel relaxed throughout.
An excellent silver service tea was a great start and then in the evening a delicious meal and great wines to make a very memorable occasion. We just about had enough room in the morning to fit in a full English breakfast that was accompanied by the Sunday papers and copious amounts of coffee.
Would highly recommend the Langar House Hotel and look forward to returning soon.

I booked a lunchtime meal for my husband's 40th birthday as a special treat after a recommendation from a friend. I was slightly nervous about going, as we can't afford to eat out in proper restaurants very often and can find sometimes that good service and a more formal setting can tip over into pretentiousness and become intimidating.
I needn't have been worried. It was everything I think a good restaurant should be. The staff were professional, polite and helpful, but not too overbearing. More importantly, they remained professional when they were away from the table and speaking to each other, which I think is more telling.
The food was amazing. I even ate the rocket in the salad, which I don't normally like, because it complemented the other flavours so well. The lamb main course was slow cooked and extremely tender and enhanced by a lovely herb crust. The only slight disappointment was that they had run out of their own bread to purchase to take home-to be honest I would have been happy to just eat a loaf of that with butter on it!
If you are looking for something a bit special, with good food that doesn't need a paragraph to describe it, then this is a good place to start looking.
