We booked this hotel as our home base for a girlfriends' weekend...mainly because it had a suite with two queen beds and a sofabed, which is what we needed. The room was ready early, as we arrived at 11:00 a.m. on a Friday, so we were very happy with that. The rooms themselves (at least this suite) is on the small side; i.e, not quite as large as newer hotel plans. To fold out the sofabed required moving the desk chair and the coffee table--with really no room to relocate them. We re-arranged our luggage, etc., and stacked on top of the table, moved the desk chair to the side of the desk. Not a great layout, but it worked, as we were actually in the room very little.
The room had a microwave and a fridge, though (which was not stated on the hotel site description, so that was a nice surprise).
The hotel in general and the rooms in particular are clean, but they are in need of a facelift, looking a little tired. Newer carpet and wallpaper in the hallways and rooms would brighten up the place.
The pool was an indoor pool, and while we expected to use it while there, it was really quite small. As it turns out, there were at least two youth groups there during our stay, but even if they hadn't been overtaking the pool area, it would have been a small pool for more than 8-10 adults in the pool at the same time.
The breakfast area is very, very small, and we just lucked out in trying to be there while it was being overtaken by the aforesaid youth groups. When they cleared out, it wasn't bad, but the eggs were dry and crumbly, the sausage small and sparse (probably cleaned out by the kids), and the juices out of the self-serve dispenser were ALL watered down. Not just the orange juice, but the apple juice, and all the others. Not appetizing at all. We opted to go out to a local restaurant the second day for breakfast.
The location is good, within walking distance of the Cracker Barrel, and short driving distances to a variety of restaurants for all tastes and budgets. Likewise, shopping is close by, and the hotel is conveniently located by I-71 and I-270 for easy access to anywhere you want to get to in or around Columbus.
The hotel was totally booked, with no vacancy on both nights, but we had considerate neighbors in that it was a nice quiet stay at night.
I wouldn't say I would not go back, because for our purposes on this trip, it was fine. However, I'll likely shop around to see what else Grove City has to offer in accommodations if I were to return.
