“A great stay!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 22, 2014

What a fab place! A great combination of caring staff, good food and comfortable rooms. Despite it being peak holiday season they coped well. the food was local and freshly cooked.
You can be sure of a warm welcome here. There is nothing that is too mush trouble.

Room Tip: Any room is good.

This is the 2nd time we have stayed at the "Tanky" and once again it was excellent.
From breakfast to dinner, the choice and quality of the food was great.
Service from all of the staff once again was A1. Nothing was any trouble for them.
Many, many thanks to Duncan,Terry,Janet,Elaine, Jim and all the rest of the staff who made our holiday simply marvellous. God willing, see you next year !!!

We stopped for a break and a bite on the way North. Friendly staff, delicious food carefully made, beautiful tranquil garden to sit in, very reasonable price. I would stay at this hotel, it feels very relaxed.

After travelling for an hour and a half we were looking for a toilet-break - and a coffee. And we found both at the Tankerville: staff we're friendly and welcoming and, the coffee? WOW - brilliant, and just £3.50 for the coffee AND a superb home-made (huge) cake.

Return visit to northumberland and back to our old friend The Tanky. Long serving staff remember us everytime, lovely food, camembert starter stunning! private gardnes looking lovely, a lovely place to just go and chill out. we will be back in the winter

Room Tip: I like room 11, its a small double, but it gets the morning sun and has great shower!

Stayed last night at this hotel . I dislike to give negative reviews but was very dissappointed with the standard of this hotel .I found the grounds spacious and well maintained with a large car park to rear. The room didn't offer value for money as the condition was well below what I would expect for £100 a night .the service was poor as I had asked for 2 rooms together and this was confirmed 2 days before I arrived which I didn't get .didnt find some of the staff helpful or pleasant

We had a three night stay with dinner on the first night, steak done to perfection and gammon lovely and not too salty. Full Northumberland breakfast was good as were the Craster kippers. Room was small but adequate and spotlessly clean.(we were told that the larger rooms were being refurbished while we were there) (redecoration and new carpets). The gentleman knocker who hit his head on the doorframe needs to get a life, he was staying in a quaint 17th century coaching Inn for goodness sake. with any luck he'll hit his head a bit harder in his Travel Lodge!!
We enjoyed our stay and would definatly go back
