“Outstanding break.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 13, 2011

We spent a wonderful few days at Firwood in October 2011. It really is a lovely place to spend a few days relaxing in outstanding accommodation. Our room was very impressive, tastefully decorated with little luxuries at every turn. The grounds were equally impressive, breakfasting looking over the gardens with red squirrels, pheasants, rabbits and birds feeding. The breakfasts were superb and really set you up for the day. Beth was a really good hostess, knowledgable about the area and so enthusiastic about the property and the wildlife. Nothing was too much trouble throughout our stay. We would thoroughly recommend Firwood without hesitation and we hope to visit again.

We spent five nights at Firwood at the beginning of September 2011 in the Red Room, which is large, comfortable and has a view of the squirrel feeders. Healthy breakfast looked very good but we couldn't wean ourselves off the cooked breakfast with rare breed sausage. Wooler is a good base for touring the area and has good eating places - we alternated between Milan and the Red Lion (former needs booking and the latter will probably soon do so). On Beth's advice, we bought tickets for Alnwick Castle from Wooler tourist office, thus gaining an extra discount and typical of the helpful information she and Mike give out. We have no hesitation in recommending Firwood House. Rod K & Clare N.

The Firwwod is a wonderfull place to go for a peacfull break. Mike and beth are a really freindly and helpfull couple and quite knowledgeable. The grounds of the B&B are fantastic with plenty of wildlife including red squirrels. As neither my wife and I don't eat brekfast we can't really comment on it but you do get a good cup of coffee. I usually can't be bothered to write a review but this place is worth the effort

Great hosts (Beth & Mike), wonderful location, lovely views, amazing wildlife, comfy accomodation and "figure enhancing" breakfasts. A REAL TREAT.

You will have to go a long way to find a better place to spend a few days. Firwood is not just a treasure in itself, but is so well placed to enjoy so much more of Northumberland.

We have been many times, and it is more like visiting friends than having just a few days away.

Go on, try it. You won't regret it!

Wonderful, friendly B&B in a beautiful setting with lots of wildlife on the doorstep - literally! The Red Squirrels were particularly entertaining to watch. Knowledgeable hosts in relation to the area and what to focus on, helpful information given during general conversations and without being prompted. Wooler had some good places to eat (and drink) and Firwood itself is well placed for visiting all parts of Northumberland and even into Scotland. All in all a great place to spend a few days.

The house is about 1.5 miles from Wooller in a very quiet location with plenty of free parking, ideal for getting around Northumberland and walking the Cheviots from the front door. All roooms are first class and with all mod cons.In Wooller there are plenty of very good eating and drinking places. Both Beth & Michael are only too willing to give you advice on the area. There is a great choice for breakfast including the full english breakfast ( not for the faint hearty ).We had a great 4 night stay and would recomend it to anybody.

Room Tip: all rooms are of a very high standard

We have stayed at Firwood many times and it is always wonderful. Sometimes we joke that we are visiting Firwood B&B and not Northumberland! Beth and Mike will make you feel very welcome and they are so helpful. The location is stunning, so quiet, so beautiful. We'll be back again! If you can book one of their three rooms, don't hesitate. I can't recommend Firwood B&B enough, my favourite... and I am choosy!

Room Tip: Contact Firwood directly - They are very friendly
