“Last Minute Break”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 21, 2014

After leaving the booking a bit late I thought I would struggle to get a decent room in Seahouses and so it turned out. However when I rang the Bamburgh they said they had a room but only the disabled bathroom adapted room on the ground floor was avaiable (with no sea view). We took the room but when we booked in the fiendly recettionist told us there had been a cancellation and we were upgraded to a sea view room, but we warned it was an attic room and smaller than the other. The room had faboulous views of the harbour, but we were slightly jealous that the adjoining rooms ahd balconies!...these go quickly!
The car park was free and the hotel is clean and comfortable and right in the middle of seahouses so it was a really enjoyable stay.
The only disappointment was the evening meal .The prices are high and the quality is not.Dont get me wrong, all cooked properly and edible just not what I would call restaurant quality food ,which is a great shame as it lets down the rest of the hotel. Also I think for the prices charged there should be waitress service and not the the "weatherspoons/brewers fayre method " of ordering. However the breakfast was very good........
That aside I was impressed with the hotel and the evening meal problem wouldnt stop me from returning,I would just find somewhere else for the evening meal.......

Room Tip: Book soon and get a balcony!!

Thank you for the review - we always do our best to help you have a great stay. Just a point to note - we are a pub with rooms - and our food service is - as is the norm with pubs - order at the bar. Hope you do return to stay with us again.

We were lucky enough to win one night's dinner bed and breakfast here, and what a lovely prize it turned out to be. We were in room 20, which had a balcony and a lounge area. Although it was busy the staff were friendly and helpful. We will certainly stay again as it a convenient place to visit the coast and the Scottish borders.

Room Tip: Choose a balcony room especially if you are going in the summer!

Really friendly staff and quite a large room. There is a free car park which is ideal and the breakfasts were really tasty. The location of the hotel is great, so close to the centre of Seahouses. Would stay again.

On the recommendation of the couple whose wedding we were attending, we made a booking for two nights as part of a party of eight. Very impressed by the versatility of this well run hotel, offering variably sized accommodation in rooms with own balconies, separate annexes and rooms with own gardens. The Manager was very patient with our change of circumstances from no longer requiring a ground floor dog friendly room (with own individual garden!) to requesting a double room with seaview. We stayed in family sized room 25 (no balcony) which has two twinned beds made into two very comfortable large doubles. Windows to the front and rear of the room. Brilliant view overlooking the hotel's upper sun terrace, corner view of the elevated grassed beer garden and the harbour. Loved watching the harbour gently come to life with small fishing boats preparing to go out to sea, scuba divers getting their kit together for the day, and day trippers taking boat trips to the Farn Islands or seal spotting. We had loads of space, good quality furnishings, a comfortable settee by the window, quality clean bed linen and towels. Roomy bathroom, bath had shower head fixing connected to taps. Could not really stand up to have a shower due to restricted headroom, but ok to rinse yourself down or wash your hair, but fine enough for a bath. Plentiful supply of hot water, well stocked tea tray, tv. Breakfasts are served buffet style, just needed to get used to co-ordinating gathering juice/cereal/toast/tea/coffee/hot food! We had one evening meal and one lunch which were both perfectly fine, offering a good selection of choices, both in price and tastes. Drinks were a tad expensive, but expected to pay a premium due to the location. Found all the staff to be very friendly and comfortably attentive. Free parking available at front of the hotel. The last night was also our friend's wedding reception at the hotel. Very good buffet, for approx 40 guests, held in the enclosed upper sun room with French doors leading out onto the terrace overlooking the harbour and views out to sea. Watched a fabulous sunset go down behind distant Bamburgh Castle, lots of busy cameras! Seahouses is a nice place, with plenty of cafes, places to eat, various local traditional pubs, family friendly entertainment. Great for families, dogs, or romantic couples. Lots of energetic activities available, fabulous walks along the many beaches in the area, recommend a visit to historic Bamburgh Castle ten minutes down the road, local museums, Lindisfarne. Friendly locals, even the local birds are friendly, just try sitting on the benches near the hotel, don't be surprised to find a young starling sat right next to you! We all agreed, worth another visit.

Room Tip: Friends stayed in rooms with balconies, great views, but found they had no windows other than the Fr...

A snack lunch to forget. Perhaps you pay for the harbour view..........
Two of our group of five had soup, which was acceptable. Two had a crab and pitta bread starter - very small servings at about £7.40 each. One ordered a baked potato and simple salad. The salad was simple, but the baked potato was soggy, sitting in a brown liquid, and basically inedible. Taking this back to the Duty-Manager she understood she was getting a refund. That turned out not to be the case. She was later offered a replacement - by which rime she lost her appetite, and saw little point as the chef had declared the meal fully satisfactory. The staff then took a determined view that there would be no refund, and we left - and won't return.

Large, friendly (dog friendly is some parts) with fantastic food! The portions are huge! Large garden outside looking from Bamburgh Castle right along the coat to the harbour a Lovely place to have your lunch on a sunny day. Didn't stay as we have a caravan nearby but it seems to be very popular.

Room Tip: The ones overlooking the sea have little balconies

our group of Golfers has now been coming here for 12 years and in fact was one of the first group of people to stay in the hotel(started with 8 and is now at 16 people).
The staff are friendly and polite even when we get a little loud!!! the rooms are clean and tidy. The breakfast is always plenty fully (could do with some new toasters though). No doupt we will be going back next year.

Room Tip: Try to get a sea view.
