“A real gem”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 15, 2013

First time at this B&B, stayed 2 nights, absolutely excellent in every respect, couldn't fault it. Great for divers as well as holidaymakers and birdwatchers. 5 rooms all ensuite, at a pinch can take up to 13 people. We had room 4, superbly decorated, very clean, spacious - plenty of room for suitcases, Queen size bed + duvet, very comfy, spare pillows and blankets provided, ensuite shower room, complimentary toiletries, lots of nice touches - kettle, tea, coffee, biscuits, access to shared iron & board, fridge. Combined breakfast room and kitchen. Breakfast - fruit, cereals, Joan cooks a wonderful full English Breakfast cooked to order. Own key to come and go. 10 minutes walk to centre of town. Car parking - A couple of off street parking places. On - street is no problem as its a very quiet street - but be careful not to restrict neighbours access as I did - he soon let me know!! Landlord Andy co-owns several good size boats - does excursions - Farne Islands etc as well as 2 dive boats - all modcons, tail lift etc (see http://farneislandstours.co.uk) small drying room available. Andy gives reductions on the boats for B&B guests and groups. Evening restaurant recommendation of the Links Hotel was excellent. Thanks Joan and Andy - we'll be back!!!!

Room Tip: I'm sure they are all good, ours was room 4, very quiet

We stayed here for 2 nights with my husband's Dive Club and were made extremely welcome in an understated way which suited us fine. The room was very clean and the bed extremely comfortable. It was very quiet and we slept like logs. There was a fridge outside on the landing for the guests' use which was very welcome to keep our next day's sandwiches cool and some wine! The breakfasts were lovely and we felt like part of the family with little Archie wandering around. It was so relaxed compared to some places we have stayed in, where one feels slightly on edge at breakfast time. we will definitely go again and recommend it to all our friends. It was also excellent value for money.

I stayed at The Olde School House with my mum and my two children for five nghts. We found the accommodation to be spotlessly clean and very comfortable and I would highly recommend it to anyone. Joan was so friendly and helpful and her breakfasts were great and kept us going nearly all day!

Room Tip: My children and I stayed in the family room upstairs for 3 and it was a very generous size.

We are frequent visitors to Joan and Andrew's B&B. The rooms are clean and well presented. It is situated a little bit out of Seahouses but easy walking distance and on a quiet road so sleeping is easy as there's only the seagulls to wake you up! The breakfast sets you up for the day, very welcoming hosts, we can call them friends now, lovely people.

Room Tip: All the rooms are lovely, we've been in most of them over the years

Our first stay at The Olde Schoolhouse and I am sure it will not be our last. We stayed in the ground floor rooms with our 2 dogs and couldn't have been more comfortable. The rooms are very spacious, very clean and extremely comfortable. We all commented on how comfy the beds were. Its the little touches that help, toiletries in the bathroom, nice biscuits to have with a cuppa, and the thoughtful provision of a fridge for guests to use. Breakfast was great with a number of options. We really had a lovely stay and didn't feel that anything we might have asked for would have been too much trouble. The house is in a very quiet location just on the edge of the village but only a short stroll away from the centre. We will certainly recommend you to our friends. Thanks again.

Stayed here for first time in many visits to the area. Bedrooms exceptionally comfortable and a very warm welcome for everyone.

I don't believe I have ever slept in a more comfortable bed. Breakfasts are consistently good, providing an ample start to an active day spent diving the beautiful Farne Islands.

Nothing is too much trouble for most Northumbrians, simply a local characteristic, but this family business is a leader in the field.

Room Tip: WiFi has problems with substantial walls - but they don't half shut out any snoring from other r...

We stayed here on a short break travelling down the North East coast with friends on a walking holiday and were delighted with the standard of accommodation /friendliness of hosts and food. We would not hesitate to recommend this venue. Only downside was we didn't have enough time in this lovely location and will definitely be back for a second visit.
