“Excellent”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 26, 2012

First time visited on Saturday 23rd June 2012, having been recommended by my Sister who had eaten there on Wednesday and was impressed.
The food was well presented and superb and I will definitely be going back.
Lovely to have this type of restaurant on your door step.

“You WILL be pleasantly surprised”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 24, 2012

What a shock. Set near a railway line, opposite the COOP, plain frontage.
Walk through the doors....... clean, modern with a super atmosphere. The menu isnt exactly extensive but no matter what you chose whether it be the Bream or a burger, the food is just fantastic. Great service, efficient, attentive but not overbearing. Well priced. Wants for nothing. The first time I have made the effort to collar the chef (when he was having a 10 second breather) and thank him for such a super meal. FIRST CLASS

“Great food and really friendly”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 24, 2012

3 of us stopped in for lunch today on our way back from a weekend up North Northumberland.

2 of us had roast beef dinner and 1 had soup and a roll as he wasn't particularly hungry. He said the curried lentil soup is excellent.

I could not rate my dinner highly enough. Great creamed mash and tender beef with home made yorkshire puds and tasty gravy. The veg were really firm which to my mind is the only way to eat them. The other member of our party said they were not cooked enough for his taste and next time he's ask for the veg to be a little more cooked.

None of us had sweets as we were not hungry enough but they looked delicious.

Really friendly place and excellent value for money. We'll be back.

“!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 23, 2012

We frequently travel to Northumberland and have yet to find somewhere that serves good wholesome food on a consistent basis - until, by chance, we found 'The Junction'.
Initial impressions were that it was small and unassuming but it was clean and airy. The tables are not sat on top of each other and there is room to relax. A point in its favour, for me, is that the tables appear to be slightly larger than the norm so condiments / wine / water and not cramped and getting ready to fall off!
The menu is not too large to be overpowering but it is still comprehensive. Because of its size it also means that all the food is freshly cooked - and if you are concerned then you can see straight into the kitchen ..... so nothing to hide!
The food itself is 'spot on' and served on decent sized plates which is handy as the portions are huge - probably too much so if you have a small appetite!
The deserts have a nice touch in that they are listed without any compulsory accompaniments. These are separate, so if you want cheesecake and custard rather than pouring cream then that is what is there. I think that some people are too embarrassed to ask for something different so this is for them.
The wine list is again not too large but reasonably comprehensive. I suspect that from the prices the 'mark up' is less than the normal 100%+.
The prices are competitive and what you do pay is worth the money.
Bottom line: (a) Were we happy when we left? (b) Would we recommend 'The Junction'? (c) Would we go back?
Yes to all three.(In fact we ate there twice in two days.)
My main concern is the location. I just hope that it is not to far off the beaten track to put people off. On the basis of what we have seen - and eaten - this place deserves to succeed.
I gather that it is only six months old and that it takes a couple of years to get fully established. If it can do this in six months then the future is bright.

“Brilliant addition to Widdrington”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 23, 2012

Andy and the team are simply wonderful-the food is excellent, as is the service. My husband and I no longer need to travel to Newcastle when we have this on our doorstep.
