“Bockenfield Country Park-a great base for exploring Northumberland”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 12, 2012

My family of 4 (2 adults and 2 children) stayed here for Easter 2012. The lodge no 4 was exceptionally clean and spacious. It is actually a 12ft wide caravan with plastic wood look alike cladding all around the outside and double glazed windows and doors. The double bedroom was large and had plenty of storage and an ensuite. The twin room was tiny, but my girls liked it.The kitchen area was well equipped and everything was clean. The room and dining area was roomy and bright.
Unfortunately it rained for all of the holiday so we were unable to enjoy the patio area which had a table and chairs set out.Instead we spent a cosy time watching dvds.
Access for the A1 is good,as the site is right next to it.This made it rather noisy with the passing traffic.Husband couldn't sleep a wink with the road noise but the rest of us were fine. The springy bed stopped me from having a good nights sleep. The site itself was quiet as there are only around 10 Hoseasons lodges and the rest are privately owned. The owners were helpful and came immediately when we had plumbing trouble. There is nowhere to go on the site.We looked for a walk, but ended up in some kind of dumping waste ground. There was a football play area.
I'd recommend here for a base for exploring Northumberland as its easy to get to places, but you need a car for getting around the area.

I was so pleased to arrive and see a lovely clean and well kept park. The lodge we stayed in was so good I could live there! It came with everything you need and the heating in it (bearing in mind it was October) was excellent. It's for people with cars though. I doubt you could get public transport there and you do need a car to get about, but it's a lovely place to stay in my favourite part of the country. Very nice, extremely clean and excellent value for money. I will be going again, definitely!

We have just got back from a 5 day stay at the Bockenfield Country Park it was excellent. We stayed in a Thirston lodge holiday home which has 3 bedroom, 1 double and 2 twin. The lodges are beautiful and are decorated very tastefully. The Park is in an excellent location for exploring Northumberland but you do need a car to get out and about. We had a problem with the shower door ,we reported it at reception and it was dealt with Immediately. There was 5 of us on holiday and everyone had a fantastic time, we will Definitely be going back.

We recently spent five days at Bockenfield Country Park staying in a two bedroom lodge. Accommodation excellent .Spotless, spacious and very comfortable. All lodges had a lovely verandah and chairs to sit on in the evenings.Site very quiet even though situated very near to A1.Only a small site no amenities except for a laundrette. Perfect for a relaxing holiday.Staff very helpful.Site perfect for visiting various areas ie Alnwick Castle, Cragside and Newcastle.A car is essential at this place.Morpeth town approx 15 mins away here there are supermarkets and Marks and Spencer's.Lovely small town to visit.Overall very enjoyable holiday top marks for accommodation and places to visit.
