We had very warm welcome, personal service but we were the only tourists in the pub due to end of season , Lovely open fire so we ate in the bar . Food was lovely definitely, recommend the steak pie !! Would recommend this pub just for that alone

“just as it should be”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 8, 2012

very freindly, good staff, owners with years of experience and it shows, good bar atmosphere and friendly locals.

A variety of drinks are avaliable as well as coffees etc, there is pool and darts as well as a very nice conservatory area and large resturant.

The chef is excellent the best in the area by a country mile and the menu is varied with an ever changing specials board, i must have eaten here 10 times and have never had anything less than excellent, everone else i have taken here agrees also.

I would highly recomend this place to anyone wishing to visit the area!

“New team trying to turn it around”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 2, 2012

Very friendly service. Apparently a new landlord took it over in the spring and is trying to restore a reputation that had been falling. The beer was good and the burgers delicious, but the building is tired and dining area had no atmosphere. They are working hard on it and based on what we saw deserve to succeed.
