“A little pricey!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 19, 2012

I got a cancellation so didn't pat full price was here for my friends wedding. The rooms are nice but getting a little dated, bottom of bed frayed and bathroom not top notch (not what you would expect for £150-£195 a night, I didn't pay this so was worth the price I paid) BUT breakfast is spot on LOVELY. Did'nt use any other facilities. drinks are all priced different in the bars, cocktail bar the highest £8 a pint!

A delightful building set in beautiful countryside, our room was a very good size even though it was on 2nd floor and very comfortable. The swimming pool was perfect although more than one shower in each of the ladies and gents changing rooms would be welcome. The staff throughout the hotel were willing to be helpful and worked very hard, but the hotel was understaffed in the public areas, especially in the restaurant and bar resulting in chaos when busy. We were disappointed that when we ate in the pub attached to the hotel that although it was not late in the evening they had run out of our first 2 choices although these were not specials. Our biggest irritation was the lack of internet, we knew we would not get wifi in the room but the hard wired broadband switch in our room was hanging out of the wall, we asked it to be repaired, which it was but the person who screwed it back in the wall had no computer so could not check it was working - which we discovered was not! We had to log-on to use the wifi in the public areas and pay for it via bt open zone. Out last gripe was the lack of a working extractor fan in the bathroom, we were told it was working but very quietly but that was rubbish as just putting one's hand over the fan there was no extraction. The one really positive from the hotel was the staff, we were pleased to see young British people learning a skill which will be useful all their lives, they should never have difficulty getting jobs!!

We stayed at this hotel twice over the winter months when there were special offers on.We paid 126 pounds the first time and 140pounds the second this was for dinner bed and breakfast and we also got a free bottle of wine with our meal.We thought this was tremendous value. We ate in both the Dobson restaurant and The Linden Tree pub and both meals were superb. The spa and pool are also excellent. We will definetly be returning this year.

Room Tip: We got upgraded to a superior room overlooking golf course which was very nice.

I have recently had 2 stays at Linden hall both overnight spa deals, these were arranged with the help of Louise the spa manager Louise was very helpfull & very cheerfull i must say the therapists and the treatments were excellent, the spa has a very relaxed atomosphere. The steam room wasnt working which was dissapointing & i do agree with others the pool area does need updating. We checked in & on both occaisions James the reception manager (who was new to the hotel) was on duty each time what a lovely helpful guy, our rooms were lovely spacious, spotlessly clean and lovely comfy beds (we had rooms 7,9 & 10) these rooms are due a refurb but we thought they were really nice. We dined in the Dobson restaurant the food service & atmosphere was excellent, our breakfast delicious all the staff are cheerful & helpful we went home happy & relaxed and will return. I must mention Karen the operations manager a very happy helpful lady & my favourite therapist Jean.I have been visiting Linden Hall for 16 years now & have rarely had cause to moan about anything the grounds are well maintained it is a lovely place with lovely staff

My sister and I stayed overnight and indulged in a spa package. Treatments were good and the facilities were nice, not as many spa facilities as other spa venues but very relaxing. The food was excellent

I arranged for a group of friends to go to Linden Hall Spa last Sunday (6th May) for the "Relax like Royalty" package. From booking the package, getting the treatments, our afternoon tea, to leaving the hotel, the service was excellent. The staff couldn't have done enough for us, nothing was a hassle for them at all.
On arrival, we completed the usual forms and told them the treatments we wanted as part of the package. I went for a back, neck and shoulder massage in the morning, then a facial in the afternoon. As we were concerned about being peckish through the day, we asked if we could have afternoon tea at lunch time instead. The girls in the spa were very accomodating and even arranged for it to be brought to us, to save us having to ready and go to the hotel.
The only reason that I haven't rated the whole experience as excellent, is that the steam room wasn't very good. It was a bit dated and not very steamy. I suppose I have visited places with better overall facilities, but as far as the treatments, staff and food go....I would really recommend.

We went to the Linden Hall on 4th May to celebrate my birthday, upon arrival we were impressed by the location. However our views changed when we got to our bedroom (115) at the front of the hotel.
The room was small, basic and poorly designed. The door to the bathroom was next to the bed so that if anyone got up through the night to go to the loo flooded the bed with light ensuring the other person was woken up. The wardrobe was in the corner with one door blocked by a chair, the room was so small that there was no where else to put the chair.
We went to the spa/fitness room/pool area: this was down a dark corridor with an unmanned reception area. The changing rooms were cramped and very dated with £1 (refundable) lockers. The pool was empty so we had a swim and noticed what looked like a 'tide mark' around the water level, especially behind the steps so that was the end of our swim. We wrapped ourselves in our towels and went back to our room to get changed.
That evening we were booked into the Linden Tree Pub, I was shocked to be charged £5.10 for a gin, with an extra £1.20 for the tonic. The meal however was very good, was good helpful staff. That night my wife was woken by other guests returning in the early hours who were stood outside trying to get in (we had the window open as there was no air con in the room). Breakfast in the Dobson room the following morning was good.
Overall it was a disappointing stay, i believe that there are nicer rooms in the hotel, and the hotel had been told when booking that we were there for a birthday celebration.

Room Tip: Don't have a room at the front if you like to have the window open at night, it can be noisy wit...
