We stayed 4 nights at the beginning of Oct lovely homely place full of character. Breakfast was fantastic. Spotlessly clean rooms and Ruth and Maurice were very friendly hosts. Lots to see and do in the area, prime location. Thanks again. We will certainly put the Old Vic at the top of our list when we visit the area again. Geoff and Sheila

The Old Vicarage was the perfect place for me to stay to get a taste of northern England. One can walk around Berwick or into Berwick on Tweed. The water is nearby. My room had all modern conveniences and was light and airy. The Bishop's porridge was my favorite on the breakfast menu. I arrived several hours early and got to sit and read on Sunday afternoon in the front room -- it was like being in a Jane Austin novel. Great hosts! Other guests also great -- two of them invited me to go with them to Lindesfarne -- lovely trip, kind companions.

Lovely house, full of old world charm. Friendly homely feel and nothing too much trouble. The breakfast menu was all you could want, and cooked to perfection. Ruth and Maurice were lovely hosts and we would make it our first choice when we are next in the area. Chris and Karen from Kendal.

My sister and I were part of the group that did the 26 mile charity walk on the 14th September. Ruth and Maurice were so welcoming and went out of their way to make our group feel really comfortable. We particularly liked the special touches such as a complimentary glass of sherry on the Friday evening even though we were eating elsewhere and canapes before our evening meal on the Saturday - all served in their lovely lounge. Many thanks again to a smashing couple

Many thanks for all your lovely comments following your stay here, with us, at The Old Vic. Do hope you have all now fully recovered from your walk. We look forward to hearing the total raised for the Alzheimer's Society. Well done to you all. Best wishes - Ruth and Maurice

My friends and I stayed at the Old Vicarage Guest House whilst we were doing a long charity walk. Ruth and Maurice were extremely friendly and supportive and we really appreciated this. A pack up breakfast was provided as we left too early for the cooked breakfast. We chose to eat there on the Saturday night and the meal was lovely and just what we needed after the walk. Nothing seemed too much trouble for them. I agree with all the other comments people have left, rooms were spacious and clean. I particularly liked having fresh milk for tea in our room :)
So thank you Ruth and Maurice for making our weekend so memorable. We have been telling everyone that if they are ever in that neck of the woods to stay with you.

Hi Sue
Do hope your poor feet and legs have recovered after that amazing walk you and the girls did for the Alzheimer's Society. We were so pleased to be part of your 'unofficial' backup team. Thank you for taking the time to write such a lovely report. Every best wish - hope you raised lots of monies for this very worthwhile cause which is also very close to our hearts - Maurice and Ruth

Stayed here in August on the way to the Edinburgh Tattoo.
What can I say - beautiful cosy Victorian Hotel with lovely people who look after you so well.
Food absolutely fantastic, from breakfast to the cheese platter we had in our room OMG!! how delicious was that! The rooms were very comfortable and clean. It was also the finishing touches that made the Hotel very different from others we have stayed in - proper sugar bowls and milk jugs - just perfect. Will return if ever up in the north again and would certainly recommend to others. Wendy & Steve 17th - 19th August 2013
