“Can't do enough to please”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 28, 2013

We stayed for one night on our way back to Scotland, in our motohome 24th March 2013.
It was blowing an absolute gale, but inside was warm and cosy, bar had a real log fire,
and restaurant a wood burning stove. Staff were really friendly as were the locals, food selection was good, and fairly priced, perfectly cooked. All in all a great place to stay.

“Warm and Friendly”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 13, 2013

Walked into a tiny but cosy bar area and sat next to an open fire (a welcome sight on a freezing March night!). Bought 2 drinks and lady behind bar asked if we were eating and offered us the menu. Sat back down and glanced through the menu, a small and simple selection of hearty home made pub dishes. Fantastic! We ordered our meals and as they were being cooked we sat by the fire in the bar area. When they were ready we were shown though to a small cosy restaurant room situated to the left of the fireplace. The meals were great, so good my girlfriend tucked into a pudding afterwards! The bar offers 2 real ales and a selection of lagers on tap. We will be sure to come back soon.

“Perfect & Peaceful”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 7, 2013

The wife & I have just had 3 nights staying on the CL at The Plough. Its the perfect place to stay for either visiting Holy Island, and surrounding areas, or as it was for us, a relaxing quiet time away. Trevor & Julie are both friendly and welcoming, and the pub has loads of character. We ate at the pub while staying there, and have to say the food is excellent.
If in the area, this place really is a must for a visit.
We will return again.

“Warm Friendly and welcoming”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 18, 2013

Having driven past on many occasions we decided to give this little country pub a try. What have we been missing................... A small traditional atmospheric country pub, with a warm welcome, friendly staff ,and customers, and a great menu. The pub is full of character whilst the restaurant was small and cosy it was one we want to return to again. The food was well presented and cooked to perfection. The Staff were attentive without being intrusive. A good choice of set meals and special dishes. Was so friendly we even stopped for a drink after our meal which is most unusual for us.

Thank you for your nice review .I am so glad you stopped on this occasion to see what the Plough Inn has to offer .I hear it many times from customers who have passed by for years & when they have stopped was unaware of what we have to offer .Two cosy restaurants & nice bar area with log fires .
Thank you also for the kind comments on the service staff .I will pass on your comments.
I look forward to you passing again when I will hopefully have some fresh seasonal variations to tempt you in again.
Regards Chef.

“"Beautiful country pub"”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 11, 2013

We've been going to the Plough for almost 9 years now & are regular Saturday nighters. There is always a very warm welcome from Trevor, Julie & all the staff, & you can rely on the locals for cheerful banter! My Husband enjoys his Real Ale & there is always a good choice on offer. A must for the ladies to try is the Lindisfarne country wine which is like nectar! The Plough is only 5 mins from the A1, & is easily accessible from north or south. If you enjoy good home cooked food, a roaring log fire, & a good pint, then the Plough is for you, & I would certainly recommend it.
