“Breezy walk”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 25, 2013

It was good to feel the size of the fortifications on a walk around the centre of the historic town.

“Brilliant wall walk”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 15, 2013 via mobile

The walk was a revelation. We had decided to 'add' Berwick as an afterthought having visited Lindisfarne, Dunstanburgh and Bamburgh. All had been great but we'd completed city wall walks all over the world and were pretty blasé about what looked like a short basic walk. Totally wrong. We walked on a sunny day in February, cold but clear. The Elizabethan and pre Elizabethan defences were very well explained, the walls easily accessible, the views exceptional out to sea, up to the King James bridge, above the Cromwellian parish church, above barracks and adjacent to wonderful stone architecture which really reflects the commercial wealth of the Salmon industry. To top it, we hadn't known that it was one of LS Lowry's favourite towns and there are plates of his town paintings as you go round. All in all a great experience and then easy to pop into one of the many inviting coffee shops (we chose the one built into the Town Hall). Lots of car parks available and allow up to two hours parking to enjoy the Walls properly - and have a refreshment break.

“wonderful views”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 5, 2013

we have been to berwick about 18 times over the years and one thing we always look forward to is a walk along the ramparts you get a great view up here and you can join the path just under the wee bridge by the barracks and flat roofed church and walk all the way round past the estuary where the cannons sit , right up to the town centre coming out near the weatherspoons restaurant. its a lovely walk a wee bit of a slope getting up there but one up on top its a very easy and pleasant walk that we never miss!!!!! its a lovely view of the 3 bridges too

“Fantastic views”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 5, 2013

Having visited Berwick many times, we decided to take the kids for a walk along the walls to burn off some of their energy. They loved the experience and can't wait for our next visit to Berwick. Easy walk suitable for all ages and abilities.

“Amazing views”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 24, 2012

The day was windy. This did not deter me and I went for a walk around the Walls. The wind was blustery with ice in the wind. The views were absolutely amazing with the sea blasting the coastline, providing contrast to the neat Georgian houses and streets. The guide information posts provide great information as you walk round.

TIP - Very moderate walk and will suit most walking abilities. Lots of places to stop and rest.
