“Good hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 20, 2008

For £80 per night you can't complain.
Very clean hotel, large room - double bed, plasma TV, 2 couches, en suite with large shower.

Full English breakfast included which you could alter to suit your tastes.

Attached bar/restaurant is good, unfortunately some of the 'locals' don't like tourists!

Very good value for money - thus it gets 5 stars (had it been more expensive it would only get 4, due to staff attentiveness)

4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 2, 2007

We escaped from our apartment at Chillingham Castle and went in search of a nearby hotel. We found the Craster Arms and they had a vacancy.

The rooms were nice, plasma screen TV, modern bathroom, one double bed, and two couches. However, it was expensive even for all of that and an English breakfast. (With breakfast there weren't many options for vegetarians or vegans.)

The attached restaurant offered great dinners and a medium sized bar.

For future travelers, maybe find someplace on the shore that's a bit cheaper in price.

  • Liked — The interior decorating
  • Disliked — Having to pay extra for a cot, when one of us would have just slept on the couch.

We found the accomodation in this area generally suprisingly expensive and visited a few places but were not prepared to pay the prices they asked - between 70 and 120 pounds a night for the room. (It was the Easter weekend so maybe these were higher than usual) We came across the Craster arms and at 90 a night for a suite with plasma TV, fridge and very high spec fittings and decor, plus lovely breakfast we were very pleased. Ask if there are special offers on as the staff mentionned this when we left) The staff were lovely and the pub is a friendly place with excellent beer garden in a lovely village. The beach is mainly pebbles/stones except for a stretch by the campsite. I'd say between Seahouses and Bamburgh are better beaches.

  • Liked — Quality furnishings and very comfortable
  • Disliked — Noise from people leaving pub

Quoted £85(by 2 different staff) for an apartment that would accommodate 5 people. On arrival, was told that the apartments only slept 4 and ended up having to pay £185 for the night. The manager was extremely unpleasant and would not accept that any of his staff would have quoted for 5 people. I was appalled at his attitude and the fact that there was little we could do but pay £100 more than our quote. I tried every other place in Beadnell but all were fully booked. Can these places get away with this? I am still furious with their attitude.

Stayed at Craster arms Beadnall for one night over the weekend it was great. Recently refurbished bedrooms with lounge area and very clean en suite shower room. A choice of the famous Craster Kippers or a full english breakfast served in the morning, and thats just the accomodation. It also has a lovely bar area with a good choice of menu and beers wines and spirits, which are served by friendly staff. We highly recommend this place and will be returning in the very near future.
