“Good honest food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 14, 2013 via mobile

We visited for Sunday lunch which at £11.95 for 2 course is a little more pricey than a near by competitor although I have no complaints with the quality of the food the meat was tender and plenty of it whilst the vegetables, a good traditional selection with lashings of gravy and real Yorkshire puddings. Unfortunately I had no room left for desert although my other half tried the banana split which was presented lovely and I told was delicious. The staff were attentive and friendly throughout without being intrusive. All in all a lovely lunch.

“well worth a visit”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 14, 2013

We had walked past this place for years despite it being recommended by a friend who is a chef as from the outside it looks a little tired and old fashioned but eventually decided to give it a go. We have now eaten there three times, twice in the main restaurant and one the eating area of the bar and have enjoyed all the meals.
The menu is perhaps a little fish heavy for some tastes but always offers a reasonable choice. The waiting staff are friendly and efficient. The food is not cheap (£25 for my fillet steak which i believe is even more expensive than the Treehouse in Alnwick Gardens!) but it is good. I believe the restaurant is generally only open on weekends so the nicer eating section in the bar area does fill up quickly mid-week so i would recommend making a reservation if you are wanting to eat at a popular time.

“Good food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 18, 2013

Our B&B host recommended that we eat at Beadnell Towers and we were not disappointed. Best to book as it can get very busy. Friendly attentive staff who despite being kept very busy on both evening we ate were able to find time to check if we were happy. Good menu made choosing meals difficult. Standard of cooking was very good when we were there and service was efficient. Steaks particulalry good.

“enjoyable”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 16, 2013

We dined here with friends on a very busy evening- bank holiday weekend. Ww did not have reservations, and when we declined the only table available and stated we would go elsewhere, a better table was made available. Service was slightly slow, but as stated they were very busy. Food was very good- all diners enjoyed. Atmosphere a bit noisy, but otherwise OK.

“excellent, earthy food in a great atmosphere”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 15, 2013

Friendly service and excellent locally-sourced food. The steak and the trout were superb, the chips were chunky and the potatoes and other vegetables had that just-out-of-the-garden freshness about them. Nicely cooked, too - everything just right, worth waiting a few extra minutes. A really relaxed, ambient, quirky old English atmosphere, too, with strange objects sticking out of the wall and a diver's helmet on the corner cupboard - love it, the sort of touches that put a smile on your face and provide a total and very welcome contrast to some of today's soulless corporate restaurants. Highly recommended.
