“Fantastic Location!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 1, 2014

Bamburgh is a really lovely place, a small village with a huge castle over looking it. The beach is fantastic and its break away from the typical seaside resort.
The Victoria Hotel is a good location, only 5 mins walk from the beach and the castle, also they have a car park so that’s a big bonus as there isn’t a great amount of parking in Bamburgh, especially during the high season. Bamburgh is also a good place to stop and then drive to Seahouses, Lindisfarne and any other areas around Northumberland.

The room we stayed in was lovely, was a Luxury room with a four poster bed. It felt like a real treat, the room was large and spacious and also had two lovely chairs to sit in. The bathroom was nice, with a powerful large shower; however there was no bath tub, which I was disappointed about.
The breakfast was lovely too, with a choice of cooked breakfast including Kippers, Smoked Salmon and Full English, alongside this there was a buffet with toast, Cereal, Jams and Croissants. The only point I would add about the breakfast was the poached egg tasted very vinegar like (obviously cooked with a little too much vinegar in the water).

The service seemed fine except on one small occasion where when asking the man at reception about the TV in our room. He didn’t appear interested and replied “if you can’t sort it I will get a housekeeper to look tomorrow”. Otherwise service was good; the waitresses at breakfast were lovely and attentive.

We didn't eat in the Hotel in the evening, as the menu wasn't to our tastes. There wasn't too much choice and it wasn’t cheap. We found a few pubs very close to the Hotel which served much better choices and slightly cheaper.

I would recommend Bamburgh to anyone (who could afford it, it’s not a cheap place), and the Victoria Hotel is a good starting point. However if I return I think I will try another Hotel as it turned out to be a base we stopped in very little, and was an expensive base.

Stayed here with friends for two nights. The hotel is quite old and carpets, furniture and decoration is a bit tired in places but this did not detract from a great stay. Our bedroom was clean, comfortable with a lovely en suite that seemed to be quite recently renovated. The breakfast was very good as was the evening meal in the hotel restaurant when we ate there on one night. The staff are very friendly and efficient, there is free parking and there is a good bar too. The hotel is very well located for visiting the many nearby attractions and beaches.

Bamburgh is a must see, for the castle and its beaches. The hotel is located in great spot and is a lovely hotel. But a few things needs sorting... We had a drive of 5 hours to get to Bambrugh and got to the hotel late, so we rang room service at 9:30 the person answered the call asked what we wanted from the menu, i said what we would like, then the women said no sorry you can't have anything now because the kitchen is closed. Then put the phone down. So we had to go hungry. And it's states on the room service menu it is open 24 hours a day!
When trying to sleep the bathroom door rattles and the window latch rattles too.
Oh and all the cutlery was dirty as well.
And don't have a shower in the morning because you might as well flick water at yourself from the bathroom tap because there is no water pressure.

We booked a weekend break at the Victoria Hotel in Bamburgh. And I read the reviews as you do on TripAdvisor before we went. We found our superior room to be spacious, exceptionally clean could not fault it at all. The food was good ,a large choice for breakfast and the meal at night was perfectly acceptable.
I sometimes wonder when some people write reviews are they just "letting their mouths go" or are they really hard to please...

Room Tip: try for a superior room..well worth it.

Stayed here for 2 nights on 10th July. All very straightforward and easy going. Check-in no problem. Lovely room and bathroom, albeit a bit of a trek to get to as this hotel is like a maze of corridors and stair cases. The room had a big bed which was two beds pushed together with a large headboard, but this was good because it meant the bed was huge and very comfortable. The room was a tad warm and we asked twice for a fan and were told there was one available and they would get housekeeping to bring it to the room, but we heard nothing after that! The room was spotless as was the bathroom which was nice and spacious with handy heated towel rail and plenty of lovely big soft towels. The room had usual tea&coffee stuff all ok but no literature about the hotel itself which was a bit odd. Some info about Bamburgh and the area in the drawer by way of some leaflets. We slept well apart from some noise from corridor as walls were very thin, but that wasn't much so it was ok.
Breakfast was very nice on the Friday morning with nice hot coffee and toast and nice plentiful breakfast items, help yourself juices, cereals and pastries. Breakfast on the Saturday was not as good with smaller portions, hard poached egg, cold toast that arrived when I'd almost finished and cold coffee and an overall feeling of being rushed to get out of the breakfast room! There seemed to be a lot of staff but nobody seemed to be communicating! Also there was a male member of staff who asked if all was ok about 3 times which was fine but he seemed to be hovering around the tables which just makes me feel uncomfortable like I just want to eat my breakfast in peace! I also feel the need to add that the same man followed my partner out of the hotel when he was packing up our car with our cases and stood within a few feet of our car watching what he was doing!! He then followed him back in watched where he went and when my partner turned round to ask him if everything was ok he walked off into the restaurant, most irregular!!!
These things aside the other members of staff were friendly and all was quite laid back. I was going to have a meal in the restaurant as the food looked really nice and menu quite varied, but it was quite crowded and so hot in there we decided not to. There was no problem with taking drinks up to our room. I would stay here again as the room was comfortable and the location is fantastic and price is indicative of the great setting. One thing I also noticed and really liked is that this hotel is very dog-friendly and I would bring my dog next time if I stayed here.

This is not the Hilton nor a Marriott but it is a good hotel in a lovely place.

We stayed for three nights last week and found the staff very friendly and helpful.

Breakfasts and lunch, particularly Sunday were excellent.

Consider this is an old hotel and not part of a huge chain. Bedrooms were fine and clean as was the bathroom. Assistance to find their own car park.

This is a great hotel in the village of Bamburgh in the shadow of the castle and within walking distance of the widest beach I have ever seen - warning that is the North Sea and it can be very cold even in the summer.
The castle is amazing and the vista generally incredible, tea-rooms and little restaurants abound outside the hotel, it is just a great place to visit.
The hotel at least for us was brilliant - no lifts so I wonder how the older guests manage but our room up three flights of stairs was very well furnished - four poster bed and well designed bathroom.
The restaurant for both dinner and breakfast was very good and the staff were both friendly and professional. A great visit made even better by this great hotel.

Room Tip: Ask about access as there are no lifts and for dinner make a booking at busy times.
