“Great little restaurant”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 29, 2014

I ate here with my family late one lunchtime, so late in fact that they kindly stayed open for us (they close between 3 and 5). The food choice was wide, service friendly, portions large, and reasonably priced. We'd definitely recommend.

“Bamburgh is lucky to have such a good local restaurant”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 21, 2014

This restaurant, one of the half dozen in Bamburgh with good TP reviews, seems to know what it is doing and is doing it well. By arranging a booking time to suit the kitchen the room with six tables occupied was smoothly run by a single person. Country kitchen tables well spaced in the single room were set in a modern clean style. A sandwich menu is available at lunch with a short but varied evening selection, a specials board offered tempting dishes also. A well priced wine list and regional bottled beers offered a good choice, to drink at your table or outside, there being no bar area as such.
The food arrived as described on the menu but clearly in the style of the kitchen, the stack of black pudding, mushroom and goat's cheese with rum sauce was altogether too sweet. Similarly the duck legs, dauphine potatoes and carrots while well cooked had a sweetness running through each item on the plate. Portion size was very good and on the whole a satisfying meal and a pleasant evening.
The personal attention was very good for example when a couple went to sit outside for a brief smoke break the patio heater was lit for their comfort.
This restaurant would be a welcome addition to our area as we would be regular visitors.

“Top quality, excellent value.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 16, 2014

This is a great little place in Bamburgh, offering food of a surprisingly high standard at down to earth prices. We had starters of chicken liver pate, and scallops with pea puree. The pate was among the best I've tasted, served with a great chutney to cut through the richness.

Mains of duck legs with dauphinoise spuds, and fish and chips were excellent. The batter on the fish was so light, it was almost a tempura. Duck legs were perfect - crispy skin around the pink meat. There's also a decent wine list, with a couple available by the glass. Starters and mains for two, with a couple of glasses of wine each came to £60. Service was very informal and well judged. If you're in the Bamburgh area, definitely make it a priority to eat here.

“Brilliant food and service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 12, 2014 via mobile

We visited twice and enjoyed some absolutely lovely food. The chicken with haggis was particularly nice.

We had our 17 month old daughter with us which never makes going out very easy but we were warmly welcomed both times.
