“Top quality and relaxing B&B”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 4, 2014 via mobile

a really lovely stay - great food, great welcome with some lovely extra touches - glass of wine, slice of cake, advice on where to eat and where to walk. Nothing is too much trouble and a perfect balance of helpfulness and hospitality without being intrusive.

I've always had a yen to run my own B and B - after a two night stay, with my best friend, at Philly's
gorgeous, inspirational and affordable home, I know exactly what I would want to offer guests! If you don't like Farrow and Ball colours, antique furniture, family photos, a warm sitting room, delicious breakfasts, the comfiest bed ever and a truly welcoming, interested hostess, then give Redfoot Lea a wide berth. The rest of us will just keep visiting and exploring one of the best areas in the country, with a satisfied smile on our faces. If you do go, take Philly's tip and have a meal at The Jolly Fisherman in Craster - stylish, welcoming and really yummy food. And don't dare miss Barter Books or Alnmouth Beach on a crisp, bright, cold, sunny day - heaven!

We stayed two nights at this cosy farmhouse. The rooms are lovely with tasteful decorations and comfy beds. The room includes all the little touches one needs including bathrobes, tea and coffee and even a box of useful bits (scissors, plasters, shave gel, razors etc). Delicious biscuits and a corkscrew complete the offerings.

The farm is just off the A1 but felt like the middle of nowhere and was quiet and peaceful. A half hour walk/5 min drive from town.

However what really makes this B&B is Philly! The perfect hostess. She welcomed us with mulled wine, a warm fire and shared her wise advice on walks, restaurants and couldn't do enough to make us feel at home. Which we very soon did!

The breakfast was amazing and the choice included fresh kippers from Craster, a full English with ALL the trimmings, any form of egg, fruit etc. Some of the best breakfasts I've ever had in a B&B.

We would definitely recommend a stay here to anyone visiting Northumberland. Don't miss this gem.

What an amazing two day break we've just had. Honestly, if we hadn't have needed to be back for work we would have taken advantage of the extra free night for sure!
This was a late booking for us, as we'd had to change our plans at the last minute. Philly was babysitting for her gorgeous granddaughter so had taken no bookings but she happily accommodated us at the eleventh hour. Everything was just perfect; wonderful hospitality without being intrusive, a lovely welcome with a glass of mulled wine and a mince pie (my first this year!), a sumptuously comfy room with a lovely bed, great quality bedding, and a spacious bathroom. We knew from the first moment that we had made the right choice! Philly is an absolute gem who couldn't do enough for us. We had choccies, cookies and my favourite "rosemary water" in the room. Breakfast was exceptional with amazing granola, the most amazing scented poached plums with cinnamon and star anise, and then cooked breakfasts on both days - we sampled scrambled eggs with smoked salmon, Craster kippers and locally sourced bacon, sausages.... I could go on!
This was truly the best B&B experience I've had (and we've had some great ones!)
You really can't go wrong by booking this amazing retreat.
Alnwick: only a few minutes drive or £5 in a taxi if you are going out at night and fancy a drink. We visited Hardy's Fishing Tackle Museum, the amazing Barter Books and some good independent shops. We had a decidedly average meal at Lilburns and a lovely casual experience at the Tapas bar. Can't wait for a return trip!

A welcome reception from Philly with mulled wine and a mince pie. Our room was well-equipped, spacious, with a great hospitality tray and very nicely decorated. The bed was extremely comfortable and we slept well. Philly was a mine of information on the local area and gave us a good recommendation for dinner in Alnwick, making the booking for us and letting us know about the late night Christmas shopping. I am sure we will be back, to the B&B, the holiday cottages and the Certified Location when we have a camper van.

Everything is pretty perfect here and there are no buts after that statement. The only down side was having to pack up and leave. The rooms were clean and comfortable with every amenity included. The hospitality tray was very generous including a piece of home made cake. Breakfast was perfect. My friend swore it was the best scrambled eggs he has ever had and the Craster kippers were huge and tasty. It is conveniently located. The owners recommended some excellent restaurants and were very helpful in planning our trips around Northumberland. The roaring fire every night was a really lovely touch. Redfoot deserves more than 'Excellent'! By the way, the photograph does not do the rooms justice!

Lovely spacious room, very clean, light and airy. Philly was a wonderful host, providing great information for eating out and attractions to see. The breakfasts were delightful, with a good variety for the cooked breakfast. The icing on the cake (so to speak) was the delicious home-made cakes that appeared every day in our room. Good location for visiting Northumberland. Highly recommend it to travelers.
