“A ramble with a scenic view”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 21, 2013

A fantastic ramble over to Dunstanburgh Castle, it takes about half hour at a moderate walk. With the sun shining on you along the coast line, it is a must. The parking is just outside Craster Village, £2.00 for the whole day. Stopped off at the Shoreline Cafe for a coffee and a plough mans. Excellent food, most enjoyable. Bought some smoked kippers from the smokers too. Was a lovely afternoon out, good food, great ramble and a wonderful historic castle with some great wildlife on the way and within the castle. Recommend it. No toilets on site, so go before you start out at the tourist information centre.

“Wonderful ruins”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 15, 2013

This was the kind of castle you image was involved in some battles. It seems from the history of the place that it wasn't really, but it was really interesting for a ruin and there was the nice surprise that you could get up a level in the gatehouse. The added interesting bird and animal life and lovely beach just up the coach a short walk away enhanced the visit

“Easy flat, beautiful walk and you don't really have to go in - watch out for parking fine in Craster car park”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 9, 2013

Gorgeous, easy walk from Craster. My 2 year old managed it with no problems. We went into the castle because you get in with NT member ship but there was no need. Just the walk would have been nice enough. Worth going up to the top of the castle to see the fab view.

DO NOT PARK OUTSIDE THE BAYS IN THE CRASTER CAR PARK EVEN WHEN IT IS FULL because loads of us got parking tickets.

“Long walk to see a ruin!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 9, 2013

Walked from Craster across the fields to the castle. Late in the day so empty when we arrived. Almost closing time but the very pleasant National Trust employee said we could still look around as long as we were happy to exit over the gate rather than through it as she was locking up soon. Situated on headland and is visible from far afield. Pleasant enough place but had we paid the NT fee would have felt a little cheated. Approx 4 miles each way to castle but a lovely walk with great scenery. enjoyed walk more than castle!

“What a great castle”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 9, 2013

Although it is a ruin it is magnificent!! A nice easy stroll over the cliff tops to reach it from Craster. Run by English Heritage but free to NT members. A stroll around the inside and you get to see the seaside and cliffs where the terns nest as well as a history lesson.
