“Expensive!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 28, 2013

To get into the castle we paid the almighty sum of £24 EACH! This was not including the gardens. We were then given another ticket that they said was 'free' to return any time within a year - what a con! The castle itself was very nice and interesting to think that they had filmed part of one of Harry Potter films there! Bit gimmicky for our tastes unfortunately.

“Great day out”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 26, 2013

Agree with bubbstervj - quite expensive entry fee. We went with another couple so paid for 4 adults. You can use tickets as much as you like for the next 12 months but as we were there from 10-3pm just looking round castle and attractions on our return we would prefer to do the gardens so same fee again. Despite price its a fabulous day out. Thoroughly enjoyable. The guides are very informative and friendly. The rooms are among the best seen in a Stately home.Well worth a visit. Very nice restaurant. Plenty to see and do including swing bridges and tree house with restaurants

“Nice day out but a bit expensive”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 26, 2013

Visited the castle in April with hubby and four year old daughter. Car park was £3.50 for all day parking. Entry to the castle I thought was a little expensive £14.50 per adult however the infant (4 year old) was free. If had wanted to visit the gardens too it would have been £24 each, they do offer a family ticket which is £58. The castle itself is beautiful and lots of information and really helpful staff. Our little girl was able to dress up as a princess, she was not impressed as it wasnt a disney princess so took it off again after a whole of 10 seconds. Knights Quest was good for the little ones but rather scarey too for them. We had a little break in the castle cafe, served a range of food and drinks, the cakes were really scrummy. Best part of the day was the broom stick training, Professor Bottomley was FANTASTIC and really entertaining getting all different ages of people to join in, check out the times for the broomstick training as you really dont want to miss this. Had a really nice day out but wouldnt be in a hurry to visit again. .

“short break”

Great tour, a good mix of history and Harry Potter. Lovely gardens with quirks like the tree house and poison garden. Very enjoyable afternoon.

“Fantastic castle, beautiful gardens. Expensive.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 24, 2013

The bad news first: it's £12 for the castle and £12 for the house. Plus £3.50 for parking (see below). However, as it's a one-time visit, pay up and go for it. You will not be disappointed. The state rooms are opulent. The gardens really well done. The castle itself has a wonderful site - and right next to the town. Not to be missed.
Advice: go to long term parking behind Alnwick town centre. £2 all day. Next to castle and next to Alnwick centre.
