Just returned from a one nights stay at this hotel and we had a great time, nothing is too much trouble for the staff and it was very reasonable. We opted for dinner, bed and breakfast and had a complimentary bottle of Prosecco in the room on our arrival. The meal itself was lovely and the breakfast was really good. The rooms are modern and clean and great for what we wanted. All in all we had a lovely stay at this hotel for a very good price.

Stayed at the White Swan for two nights, February 8th and 9th 2013 to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Lovely hotel - full of character. Helpful and pleasant staff. Delicious food. We took advantage of the dinner, bed and breakfast deal, and were very pleased with the whole experience.

We arrived without a booking and were shown a room we liked and offered a great deal for 2 nights. Every member of staff from reception to housekeeping were pleasant and helpful, lovely warm rooms, quite traditional, but the bistro and bar were more contemporary. Food was good with large portions and reasonably priced. If I was returning to Alnwick we would stay here again

Stayed at the White Swan in February with family and took our 8 week old son. The hotel has its own car park accessed through a small archway and parking is free if you can get a space which we did. The hotel is old fashioned and traditional, and not very buggy friendly. We could not actually get into the hotel as it has a narrow revolving door, so I had to leave the baby with my husband and go inside to get help. We were let in via a fire door. There is also no lift and our room was upstairs so we had to carry the buggy up a large flight of stairs. However the staff were happy to help and carried our suitcase for us.

We had a superior bedroom which was reasonably spacious even with a travel cot. The room and bathroom were clean and well decorated. Unfortunately there is no minibar fridge which we would have found helpful for baby milk etc. Shower was lovely with a wide head and good pressure- so good it fills the bath up as the plug does not drain quick enough! Bed was comfy.

As building is old there is only single glazing and with it being a Saturday night there was a lot of noise from outside around pub kicking out time. It was however very warm and well heated.

We ate in the Olympic Suite for dinner and breakfast. Some dishes on the dinner menu were fantastic and others nothing special, but it was included in the rate so we were happy overall. Staff in the restaurant were very accommodating of our baby and offered to keep my husband's dinner warm when he needed to take him for a walk. We did however get starters meant for another table so there was a long wait between 2 arriving and the other 3. The menu also did not specify what was veggie so my mother in law accidentally ordered something containing black pudding.

Breakfast was good, nice selection of cereal and yoghurts, pastries etc. Hot breakfast was very good. Table numbering seems to be a recurring problem as we got breakfast that should have been the table behind. All right for us but they ended up complaining as they had to wait a long time.

We had lunch in the Bistro which was good as well.

The staff throughout were friendly, helpful and accommodating and we felt welcome even with a small baby.

The only thing that irked me a bit about the stay was after we checked out and we were having lunch, I asked for a baby change and was told that they do not have one, but I could use the floor of the disabled toilet. They offered me a change mat but I was not overly impressed with having to change my baby on a toilet floor! They have plenty of space in the ladies so could install a fold up change table quite easily, or in fact in the disabled toilet as well.

I would visit again but perhaps request a room at the back to avoid the street noise.

Room Tip: Request a room at the back to avoid the noise from the street

Stayed at The White Swan whilst marring at The Alnwick Gardens in December. Although The White Swan are also a Wedding Venue they were very accommodating to our Wedding Suppliers arriving at the Hotel. The rooms are very nice, clean and aesthetically pleasing.

Great hotel , perfect location and value for money with £99 DBB deal. Good food and wine, dining room furnished with panels from titanic sister ship Olympic. Dining room could be a bit warmer but other than that great

We were advised to stay at the White Swan by someone at the famous Alnwick bookshop.
We were offered a fair deal for two nights bed and breakfast with evening meal. We wanted to celebrate our 25th anniversary
The staff were very friendly and helpful and sorted out a minor problem with our room very swiftly and efficiently
We enjoyed our meals very much, with very attentive service in the fascinating Olympic Suite fitted out with material rescued from the sister ship to The Titanic!

Room Tip: Ask about deals for more than night including dinner
