“Great quirky little place, real gem!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 19, 2013

We stayed at The Joiners Arms 18th May 2013. Loved every minute, from outside it looks like a lovely little country pub, inside it's quirky and unique with super friendly staff and a really nice manager. We managed to check in early which was a real bonus as we were attending a wedding just 5 minutes walk up the road at Newton Hall (who also own the pub). The room was gorgeous they're all different but we had Sebastia and we loved it, the bed was really comfy and the shower was amazing, we had a nice view out the back of lambs and cows too. We didn't eat in the pub as we were at the wedding but we ordered breakfast yesterday for 10am this morning and it arrived spot on time to our oom which is a lovely touch and it was delicious!!! Really good eggs benedict and latte. We will definitely stay again and are thinking about a return visit already with some of our friends and this time we will eat on the evening as the food smelt beautiful.

“Great food, great staff - what more could you want?”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 16, 2013

Visited The Joiners Arms many times and could even call me a local.
Manager Robin knows what he's doing, even on busy days (bank holidays for example) he remains under control of his staff and the food continues to be delievered to a high standard.
Staff are always friendly and smiley, happy to have a chat and still remain professional.
Lovely refubishment, 2 lovely outdoor seating areas to have a relaxed pint and a beautiful plate of fish & chips!
Only downfall is the parking situation. Locals dont seem happy about the current parking manner, however I have noticed a petition type form on the front of the bar for a car park to be built around the back (which I of course signed.)
Overall, lovely place to eat, drink and have a laugh.

“Especially suited to the holidaying family”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 13, 2013

Lets face it, there's nothing worse than cramming into a small pub crowded pub with kids (yours or other people's) when your on holiday.
The good thing about this place, is that it's bigger than it looks from the outside, and there's plenty of room to manoeuvre. Tables can easily accommodate large groups and he atmosphere is relaxed.
The food is good, with very generous portions. Prices are not cheap, but the children's menu offers excellent value for money.

“Pleasantly surprised by the recent update and the quality of the ale, food and service even on a bank holiday monday”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 7, 2013

We used this pub quite a lot a few years ago but it began to get tired and unwelcoming so we moved our lunch stop to the Ship at Low Newton ( which is great but extremely busy ) We new that the Joiners had been closed for a full refurb so we stopped off for lunch on our walk from Craster. We managed to get a table without booking and enjoyed some fantastic real ale ( Farn Island ) it was so good it ran out. The fish and chips were divine and hit the spot the fish was as big as you would want and beautifully cooked in beer batter with mushy peas and a basket of chips. The staff were very friendly and provided excellent service.
