“Warm welcome in lovely accommodation”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 11, 2011

The Acorns is the perfect place to stay. Sue's warm welcome sets the tone and the ground floor suite is extremely comfortable and tastefully decorated. The breakfast is first class and it is especially nice to be able to enjoy a stroll in the garden afterwards. Guests also have use of a bright and airy sun room.
The location of the Acorns is quiet but only a short walk from the centre of Alnwick. It took us no more than 10 minutes. The offer of parking means there is no need to use your car unless you want to go further afield.
Our tip: Try Alnmouth or Lesbury if you want to dine outwith Alnwick. There are lots of excellent places you could try and Sue will help with suggestions.

I stayed in Alnwick for a couple of nights at the Acorns which lies on a quiet road and is about ten minutes walk into town. Alnwick is a lovely place with lots to see and do and is very close to the breathtaking Northumbrian coast.
The Acorns is a friendly, comfortable B and B. The house, garden and rooms are tastefully decorated and equipped and kept imaculately clean and tidy. The breakfast was delicious, with freshly prepared fruits aswell as juices, cereals and yogurt. The cooked 'platter ' from locally sourced ingredients was served piping hot and accompanied by lots of fresh coffee. It set me up for the day! Sue is to be congratulated for her attention to detail, from the M and S toiletries to the emergency sewing kit in the drawer next to the hairdryer. A lovely place to go back to..........

Room Tip: Ring Sue directly rather than use a 'booking agency'.

I stayed at the Acorns for one night for an interview in the town. The house is beautifully decorated with a lovely garden room and garden. Tea and cakes on arrival was greatly appreciated and breakfast was excellent. The owners go above and beyond: Sue's husband actually picked me up from nearby Alnmouth station and the next morning, Sue drove me herself to my interview which saved me a lot of stress, but was utterly unexpected!
Couldn't find a better B&B!

We first stayed at The Acorns last year and liked it so much and there is so much to see in the area that we returned in July 2011. We were made to feel welcome with tea and home made cakes on arrival. Modern spotlessly clean accommodation. Delicious breakfast with plenty of choice. Sue makes you feel welcome throughout your stay providing suggestions for places to visit and information such as tide times should you wish to visit Holy Island. We will definitely be going back again.

Was pleasantly surprised with the cleaniness and space available in our room. Very clean and pleasant decor. Enjoyed the breakfast in the morning thoroughly as well. Host was friendly and nice, always going out of her way to try to make us comfortable. Will definitely come back.

I chose to stay in this B&B due to its position in the alphabetical listing of Alnwick B&Bs, but I am SO glad I chose it! Staying at the Acorns really felt like home, which was particularly welcome after days of travelling and chain hotel stays. This B&B is unique, in my experience, as it has only two rooms and the room in which my friend and I stayed--the Annexe--actually is TWO rooms, which is not something you see very often. There was a sitting room with a couch and TV, plus a private side entrance, and then there was the bedroom. I cannot commend Sue enough for the impeccable cleanliness of the rooms and for her most genuine hospitality. Upon arriving, she brought us tea and homemade cakes, and was so warm and friendly with us at breakfast. The accommodations were very comfortable and very quiet, as the house is locating in a small subdivision off the main road. Although we did not have time to enjoy it, there is a lovely sitting room in the back of the house that looks on to the very lush back garden.

I would highly recommend this B&B if you are looking for a welcoming "homey" place to stay in Alnwick--too often B&Bs get caught up in the stuffy decor stereotype, but this one really feels like you are a guest at a friend's house which, after days of travelling, is a most welcome change!

Room Tip: The Annexe sleeps up to 4--great for a family!

Mrs Sue Davidson runs this accommodation in the family home. We received a very warm welcome , including a lovely tea in the garden, and Sue provided a friendly and attentive service throughout our stay. She was always available when needed. The rooms provided are very comfortably furnished and equipped and exceptionally clean. We were provided with clean towels each day even though we were there for only four nights. The breakfasts were first class with fresh produce for the cooked serving. We were offerred Wifi access although this was not needed. There are nice little extra touches like a sweet bowl in each room, very much appreciated.
The house is located on the edge of a small residential estate and is ideally located for access to the town whilst being away from the busy Alnwick centre. The house is also conveniently close to the A1. Mrs Davidson was always able to provide us with information and answers about local amenities thus helping to facilitate our visit.
We thought this B&B provided very good value for money and would recommend it for anyone visiting Alnwick who preferred this style of accommodation to a hotel.
