Just got back from Birdsong Cottage stayed in Haven room was besotted with the room. It's very deceiving from the outside u think ur rooms gunna be small but it's a good size wrt room is to die for hot tub was good fun. Had a laugh trying to turn in patio lights only to find out the sensor was hidden in the fishes next to hot tub oh we'll we know for next time. The room has it's own little coffee machine and fridge with complimentary drinks in also snacks in the cupboard to lotions n potions found in various drawers this couple have thought of everything. Little love hearts hidden in a heart shaped tub n cotton wool and earbuds in another little jar. They even had sanitary products in the toilet! Now that's luxury u need for nothing in this room. To top it off the beds have electric blankets on so ur bed is lovely and warm n the wet room has heated flooring so everywhere u stand its warm. Taxi into Alnwick was just shy of £15 each way. Can't wait to go bac

Arrived on a beautiful day after exploring alnwick to spend some quality time in our fabulous room, in a gorgeous cottage, couldn't wish for more, enjoyed a rose petal jacuzzi bath , everything you would ever need at hand in your room , don't let it put you off that the bathrooms not ensuite, it's all very private and all yours for the duration, loved the twinkling lights and candles, smellies in the bathroom,
Lovely breakfast thank you Amanda , I would highly recommend to anyone looking for a little peace and quiet !!!

Room Tip: Swallows nest was lovely... Imagine the other room would be even better with the hot tub

We booked the birdsong cottage on a recommendation and I can wholeheartedly say that there is nowhere that comes close to the birdsong cottage in terms of place, room, BATHROOM, extras, breakfast and hosts for the price.
We stayed in the swallows rest which was so lovely and comfortable (an with electric blankets!) and the room was absolutely faultless. The owners greeted us on arrival and were so accommodating and welcoming making sure we had everything we needed. They let us know that they were happy to answer any questions or help out in the planning of our trips. The house is amazing and I loved the bathroom so much I had three baths over a 2 night stay. I couldn't stay out of there the bath was to die for.
There were so many little extras that were complimentary that were so lovely, and the minbar was such a nice touch. We had every intention of trying out the complimentary drinks but after having such jam packed days we couldn't do anything else but fall asleep at the end of the day!
I would 100% recommend the birdsong cottage to anyone wanting to visit Northumberland. My boyfriend and I have already said that we'll be coming back again! Many thanks again to the wonderful owners.

It's in a really good location for getting about the area - near to the A1, not far fom Alnwick, we went there every evening for tea/ drinks - cost about £13 each way for a taxi.
Really welcoming and friendly place. As soon as we arrived we were shown to our room - the Swallows Rest. The room was beautiful with a large cosy bed and everything you could need. They brought us some fresh milk to make a brew and the room was equipped with some amazing extras like a proper coffee machine and a little machine to make milk frothy for a latte. There was a mini bar with some homemade booze and coke etc. There were sweeties and choccie biccies too. I had also ordered some 'yummy treats' as it was my partner's birthday. The sparkling wine came on a lovely silver platter with crystal glasses. There were chocolates and strawberries on heart shaped plates. Everything felt so special.
Then there is the bathroom! Amazing! Gorgeous bath, beatifully decorated. Covered with candles and a choice of cosmetics to use, natural sponges, again all really special touches.
One thing to say is that the bathroom is separate from the bedroom (still private bathroom though), which some people may not be fond of. But is was just a few paces away and with the B&B being so quiet it is no issue at all. It is honestly worth it!
The people running the B&B are so helpful and friendly; recommending taxis, restaurants, holy island crossing times, and just nice to chat to.
Brekkie was lovely. We had pastries whch come warm. Or bacon stotties which were so yummy. You can be served brekkie in your room too.
Overall, such a lovely place, highly recommended. So much attention to detail. Well worth the money.

This place is amazing! We were greeted warmly on arrival and shown to our room The swallows nest. This place is more like a 5 star hotel than a B&B. Our room was beautifully decorated the attention to detail being second to none, myself and my husband particulary enjoyed the bird song booze. The bathroom with the Jacuzzi tub is absolutely beautiful, A girls paradise with matching bath oils and body lotions in several different fragrances. We stayed here for 2 nights I myself was reluctant to leave and could quiet easily have moved in. I highly recommend staying here. We shall defiantly return in hopefully the not so distant future to try out the Haven.

Thank you for an amazing stay!

We received a wonderfully friendly welcome on arrival and our hosts wavered the early booking fee when we arrived later than expected. The cottage is charming, the decor is romantic and opulent, and the setting quiet and peaceful. The facilities are outstanding, with a beautiful shower room (complete with sequinned shower cap!); unlimited use of a Nespresso coffee machine and a well-stocked mini-bar complete with bespoke beverages. The hot-tub and balcony illuminations were delightful, as was an early morning breakfast from the local bakery outside in the sunshine and birdsong.

stayed at birdsong cottage on 4th and 5th of aug for a wedding myself and husband were attending. What can we say this is a absolutely beautiful cottage just off the A1, 10 minutes from Alnwick and many attractions.
We stayed in swallows rest bedroom, with its king size bed, and many little extras, coffee machine, fancy teapot, hot frothy milk maker..chocolate wafer biscuits, sweets, DVDs, robes and slippers etc, very home from home...and not to mention your own private jacuzzi bathroom ( proper jacuzzi) with lots of smellies and oils and candles to choose from..extremely relaxing not to forget the little changing lights on the ceiling!
As for the the breakfast...what a surprise..plentiful with bacon Scottie, home made granola, assorted pastries and orange juice enough to keep you going all day..
Amanda and Gary ( not forgetting Sidney the pug) are perfect hosts..nothing is too much..will definetely stay there again.

Room Tip: We stayed in swallows rest with its own jacuzzi bathroom...perfect.
