We didn't believe our guesthouse host that we would need to book - it was a Wednesday and the town hadn't seemed busy so we just went along in the evening and thought it would be fine, but we got the last table that wasn't taken or reserved! With the food on offer you could see why. Most evening meal items were around or over £15, so it wasn't cheap, but the food was high quality and worth the price. The staff were very nice and friendly. My only real criticism was I asked for a bottled ale - it had been refrigerated for some time which made it rather cold, which you expect even though it isn't ideal, but the waitress brought it over with a glass containing ice cubes. She took the ice out and was pleasant about it, but I think staff in a restaurant should know how to serve the drinks they sell, and ale certainly shouldn't come with ice. Other than that, and having the worst seat in the house because we didn't book, I would definitely recommend Lilburn's, probably for special occasions rather than regular trips.
