Lyn has achieved something quite exceptional: her personality is apparent in every detail of the house and the garden, but at the same time she allows you to be what you are! No small feat. You really feel at home, everything is there to use. You are well taken care of without being smothered: freedom and respect are the key values.
Our room was very spacious, a king sized bed, excellent bathroom with a wealth of scented candles, lotions and aroma therapy products, fluffy towels (always warm and clean).
Breakfast was gorgeous: a fabulous fruit salad, exquisite yoghurt with honey, famous Craster kippers, every cooked breakfast you could possibly want, very good coffee (says a Belgian coffee addict).
Massage is highly recommendable (the best ever!). Extremely relaxing.

For us it was a revelation (and we have been to many a B&B).
Do go and discover this gem in Callaly!

We were looking for a B&B that provided tranquillity and Callaly Cottage lived up to this expectation. A beautiful location that is easily accessible but very quiet and far from any noise. You could spend many hours watching the wildlife from the windows. Lyn was very helpful, attentive, and full of local knowledge. I hope to revisit Callaly Cottage in the future, but this time stay longer!

Room
Our room had a lot of space and was very clean and well decorated. We had a TV with integrated DVD player, and the (free) wifi signal was strong. The hospitality tray was filled with all sorts of drink options (tea, coffee, decaf, hot choc, herbal tea, fresh milk etc), and some lovely biscuits. The bathroom was huge, as was the bath itself - which was very deep and big enough for two. There were plenty of candles in the bathroom, and Lyn's homemade aromatherapy bath products were just as good as expensive shop-bought products - the conditioner was great, even on my long hair! Lyn had even placed garden-cut flowers in our room, such a lovely personal touch.

Breakfast
I had a small 'Fabulous Fruit Bowl' to start - it was full of lots of different fruits, which were very sweet and tasty. I also had the Callaly Full, which was a really nice "fry-up" without the grease and made with local produce - you could tell the ingredients were of high quality.

Dinner
There was a folder full of local restaurants, which Lyn was nice enough to go through and recommend the best places to go. Taking her up on one recommendation we tried a pub in nearby Longframlington and had one of the best meals we've ever had!

Treatments
I'd definitely recommend getting a treatment while you stay. My reiki was extremely relaxing and my husband very much enjoyed his massage.

We didn't want to leave! 10 out of 10!

Room Tip: Room 2 is quiet and very spacious with a huge bathroom. The bath is very deep and ideal for two!

Callaly is a great location for exploring Northumberland & the Borders region, but there's some fantastic local walks too, my favourite being up to the Iron Age Fort. Take good maps though as the paths are not well worn!
Lyn is the best hostess anyone can want and has a great knowledge of the area, and helped us plan some memorable days out. She really goes overboard making sure we didn't want for anything.
Rooms are extremely comfortable with great views of the immediate countryside, breakfast will see you through to the evening, don't miss out on Lyn's fruit salad which is something special.
This is our second visit, this time for a week and we can't wait to get back for another time, you really feel your batteries recharge at this retreat.

The location being pretty central, this B&B is ideal for anybody who wants to explore Northumberland. We spent 5 nights at Callaly and I think we can rate it as the best B&B or hotel we ever went to: quiet & remote location, very large room & bathroom, very comfy beds, all perfectly clean, a beautiful view and a very healthy breakfast with homemade fresh organic bread! We didn't miss the telly and appreciated the wireless connection to catch up on the "Springwatch" episodes on our iPad. Lyn the busy bee is a very friendly guest & made our stay a very enjoyable one. If we would ever be back in Northumberland, we would for sure be back in Callaly.

If you are looking for a base to explore Northumberland or just a peaceful break, I don't think you would find anywhere better than Callaly Cottage.
The location is beautiful and convenient. The accommodation is perfect. Breakfasts are delicious and the hospitality trays are better than most four star hotels.
Lynn (proprietor) is very welcoming, friendly and nothing is too much trouble.
After busy days out, we returned to the cottage after dinner to spend the rest of the evening in the garden or visitors lounge/breakfast room. Everything we needed for a comfortable evening was provided.
We had a thoroughly enjoyable stay and I can't praise the experience highly enough. We will definitely be going back.
Thank you Lynn for making us feel so welcome.

Room Tip: Both rooms are beautifully decorated, light, bright and very comfortable. We occupied the room at th...

I would not recommend this B&B to anyone, as I would like to go back and don't want anybody to be there when we want to go!!!! It was the best B&B we have been to. Lyn was like a whirlwind and never stops. We all felt totally relaxed even when we came back after 7pm and sat in the lounge area. The breakfast was better than any hotel we have been to and the views from the rooms are stunning. No need to take your own 'best' pillow as theirs are the best and the beds are very comfortable.

Room Tip: Both rooms are good

With no mobile reception or telly, we re-discovered the gift of conversation.Faultless B and B in a peaceful area teeming with wildlife. Biggest room we have ever stayed in with similar sized bathroom. Very clean. Simply, but tastefully appointed. Great value for money.
