We previously had a pleasant stay at the Talbot in 2001, and since then it has undergone a massive renovation which has transformed it into a much better hotel and dining experience. A main improvement was in the level of service, which is now excellent across the board. The room was very clean and comfortable, and the hotel in general has been modernized while still retaining the charm of a several hundred year old English inn. Dinner in the main dining room was elegant with excellent service, albeit a bit pricey. Had difficulty booking a room during the weekend, perhaps due to parents visiting the Oundle School. Overall a very pleasant stay.
