“Fantastic”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 10, 2013 via mobile

Excellent service from wonderfully trained staff, lovely rooms (stayed in the mill room) and gorgeous food. All excellent value for money. I can't fault the experience and I am difficult to please. The building has been well restored and is nicely modern without overdoing it. Stylish and tasteful

Excellent and great value for money food! Went for Sunday lunch with my fiance and will definitely be going back bringing along many others. Think this place will become a regular eatery for us and friends! The location and the friendly attentive staff made the whole experience all the better. In fact we had a personal welcome and hello from the chef offering us more gravy which was a nice touch!

We have just returned from a one night stay at Oundle Mill to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Check in was pleasant and hassle free, we stayed in the Mill room, we were shown to our room which was spacious and beautifully decorated and it was pointed out to us that there was complimentary fresh orange juice, water, sloe gin and homemade biscuits in our room. Missoni dressing growns, super fluffy towels and Elemis toiletries gave the room a special touch. Views over the river and paddocks in the distance gave lovely views whilst in our room. We ate in the restaurant for dinner, overlooking the river again next to the window, the service was impeccable, the staff were friendly and attentive, nothing was too much trouble for them. Food was delicious and beautifully presented! The kitchen also gave us a plate of strawberries and shortbread with Happy Anniversary on it which we thought was a lovely thought. After a relaxing night we had breakfast which again was delicious, a choice of pastries, bread, yogurt etc followed by a full English and smoked salmon & scrambled eggs. All staff were polite and friendly throughout, we felt relaxed and at ease during our stay. It says in the hotel's statement that they think it's the little things that matter and we certainly agree and they are achieving this well. A great one night stay, couldn't fault a thing and would definitely return either to stay or just to visit the restaurant. Thank you Oundle Mill for a trip to remember.

Having booked a while ago, and having made clear that one of our party was gluten free, this had been remembered, and a gluten free menu proffered on arrival. The staff throughout continued to remember and to be helpful and thoughtful throughout. (Unlike many other establishments which tend to forget half way through). Everything about lunch was delicious. The meat was tender and full of flavour, as were the veg (and what a relief not to see the ubiquitous broccoli but to have samphire instead). The desserts were varied and provided a good range of options. They too were light, beautifully presented and delicious. Since visiting about a year ago, this has clearly become a much more popular venue, as it was extremely busy, but the staff were still attentive without being overly so. Definitely a visit to be repeated, thank you!

Came here for lunch with our children and had a really good meal. The food was excellent and with the special set menu also excellent value. Since it was taken over and refurbished the other year it has become probably the best venue in the area.

I recently celebrated my birthday at Oundle Mill, taking up their offer of 3 courses for £14.95. The offer in itself is an absolute bargain, and the food was simply divine. My party of four all tried to have different dishes so that we got to sample a good selection of their offerings. Each dish was perfectly cooked and served beautifully. My main course, Lamb rump with lamb tongue and sweet bread had an additional supplement charge, and was worth every penny. The desserts were to die for, my favourite being the frangipane.
The service was faultless from start to finish. We were greeted warmly and made our way to the sofas for some pre dinner drinks. Our waitress promptly brought over menus and served us our drinks. Despite it being a very busy night I do not feel the service suffered at all.
Overall I would highly recommend this, I will definitely be returning.

Six of us visited for Sunday lunch on 2 June.We were very impressed with the restored mill, which is in beautiful suroundings, the front of house staff were excellant and we were well looked after. The starter and desert were very good, but our main courses were a disaster, we all had beef and it was totaly inedible, it was so tough we could not cut, it never mind chew it," even with out best teeth in". The beef should have been Serloin but was Top Side which your exellant front of house manager told us. the Yorkshire pudding was ruined by the lack of gravey( gravy boat should have been put on to the table),some of the veg was cooked to death.the best thing about the main course was the horeradish sauce.Six of us meet for a family reunion twice a year from Berkshire and Lincolnshire and un fortunatly we will not be returning.
