“Nice, friendly restaurant”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 7, 2012

Excellent steaks makes the trip worth while. The nachos as a starter were a meal in itself. Wouldn't pick the empanadas as there was no comparison with the other starters.
The chefs clearly know what they are doing at this restaurant.
The steaks come with a small but tasty salad, so you order other side dishes. We had the garlic and spicy chips ( fantastic in themselves). One portion would have been enough to share.
You get warm bread and garlic butter with your drink before you order so a desert was nigh on impossible due to being full up.
The only critism being the seating arrangements. They are cramming people in, so you are very close the your neighbour and I don't like that.
This aside, we would definitely go again.

“Mixed Bag!!!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 5, 2012

We've been to Toro twice now within weeks of each other and have mixed opinions about the place. The first time we went on a Friday night and absolutely loved it, the food was nice, the atmosphere was great and the staff were attentive. The second time we went we took friends because we had liked it so much and went on a Sunday for a birthday. It was a complete transformation, I ordered the same thing again and half the quantity on my plate, the presentation was bad and the service was slow. A friend also had a beer spilt on him by the waiter and received no replacement by way of compensation. Another friend went to the toilet and found her dinner taken away. We asked for it back and it looked as if half had already been scraped in the bin. (Needless to say, she didn't then eat) Because we had such a good time the first time, I'm just putting the second trip down to Sunday staff and the fact they weren't expecting anybody else in, but even so the quality shouldn't change depending on what evening you go on. Unfortunately it has put me off returning.

“Great food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 25, 2012

Five of us dined,2 adults and our 3 teenagers. we arrived when the restaurant just opened and the atmosphere and temperature was a bit cold. this changed soon enough and the waitresses were friendly. the food was outstanding! we all had different meals and all thoroughly enjoyed the food. the steak was just beautiful! the puddings were also fabulous. one of the best meals we have had for a while! as we were finishing our puddings, a wedding party of 50 turned up, were very noisy and overwhelming. good time to leave :)

“The perfect steak”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 17, 2012

There is nothing bad about this place. The food is fabulous, served quickly, with flair and the setting is very cosmopolitan. Great for a larger get together or one on one. The steaks, of course, are fantastic

“Dissapointing”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 1, 2012

I first went to Toro when it first opened and was quite impressed. It hadn't got a licence then for the upstairs Cocktail Bar and it still doesn't appear to have one.
Our first impression when we entered this time was how close the tables were together.I'm not sure that I like to listen to the conversations on the tables next to us,or that I wanted them to hear our's.A plate of ordinary bread and a garlic butter was brought to the table but garlic butter on cold bread is really not that appetising. Before we had finished, the waitress tried to take the bread away as our starter was ready! This became a common theme during the time we were there - constant interruption from the staff asking if the meal was ok,did we want anything else etc.more than once.In fact we wondered if they were trying to get 2 sittings in.
We decided to share a starter and we chose Beef Empanadas. For a start,it should read Empanada as there was only one tiny one,a mouthful each in fact.I do not know how they had the nerve to charge £4.95 for it !!
We had been recommended the steak in tequila, which was delicious, although we had to cut quite a lot of gristle off.We decided not to have a pud but have a coffee and a liquer coffee. My friend did not get the coffee that she had ordered and I am not all that convinced that the liquer had actually been put in mine.
I think they are going to have to up their game a bit, especially when the Turkish restaurant opens.
