House opens quite late (13:00) so plan accordingly. There is a tea room that serves some hot food, teas, coffee. It's not a full restaurant though. The staff are enthusiastic about the property and were keen to speak about the various rooms. It's a family house, not a grand stately home. The family were comfortable, not super rich and the house, decor and furnishings reflect this.
The kitchens are on the tour (unlike quite a few NT places we have visited recently) that gives an up-stairs, down-stairs feel to the route. We visited Canons several years ago and as other reviews mention, the gardens have improved significantly. They are modest, fitting the house and have a good mix of flower beds and working garden.
It's not enough for a whole day, but take in a surrounding NT place and you'll have a good day.
