Nice clean room, modern bathroom also spotless. Comfortable bed, lovely breakfast and friendly staff. We ate in the restaurant on the first evening, food was good but a bit over priced, We were the only ones eating that evening and it seemed either very quiet or empty during the rest of our stay. We ate mostly in The Crown, the choice was excellent as was the food and very good value for money. The pubs were full of diners and were turning people away, but Cocketts was still empty. We overheard some local's discussing this and they said that the food in there was good but too expensive. We think the problem is that you can not see the restaurant from outside, and the hotel lobby is a bit dark, not really very inviting.
Cockett's is in an excellent location, we did not need to use our car for the four days we were there. We went on 6 different walks straight from the village using the "Walks around Hawes" by Richard Musgrave.
