“Great weekend”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 8, 2014

My stepdaughter's wedding was held at the Foxfield this weekend and it was superb. We were all well looked after and the staff couldn't do enough for us which was greatly appreciated. We stayed in a suite which was very comfy and airy, in the main hotel and some relatives stayed in the annexe which was also very nice. Great breakfast in the restaurant with plenty to choose from. All in all a great place to stay.

We first stayed at this hotel two years ago, just after Mercure had taken over. I should point out that I have mobility issues and needed a disabled room. There is one suite that just about fills the bill, no. 101, and we stayed in that for 5 days on a B&B basis. The location is tremendous, possibly helped by glorious weather. But it's quiet and you can rely on a good night's sleep. The cooked breakfasts were excellent, heavily reliant on locally sourced produce, though the plastic sachets of sauce were a tad Blackpoolish. The cold buffet was less impressive, fresh fruit salad being less than fresh. The staff were very friendly and obliging both in the restaurant and generally around the hotel. This was just as well as, returning late in the evening from visiting friends and family in the area, we found on three evenings that our electronic card key didn't work and we had to get them replaced.
The disabled facilities need a serious overhaul. The toilet is a standard height and has a rail arrangement on the left hand side only (right hand when in a standing position). There's no stool to sit on while washing though the doors in this suite are well wide enough to take a wheelchair or (in my case) a mobility scooter. The big problem is the bathing arrangements. One has to climb into a bath to use the shower, which is above the water taps at one end. There is a grab rail arrangement some distance from the water supply, so on is expected to stand to shower or lower oneself somehow into the bath and somehow get oneself out again. When I asked reception for a shower stool they didn't seem to know what I meant and I was disappointed to be informed that they had done nothing to overcome the bathing problems because 'nobody else had complained'. We resolved the problem ourselves by acquiring a simple shelf-seat which fitted across the bath from a mobility goods shop in Clitheroe. We naturally brought the shelf seat home with us and will take it again next time we go. The supply of hot water seemed somewhat temperamental too.
This is such a shame because this hotel has a lot going for it.

Dear Paul J,

I'm pleased that you enjoyed your recent stay.
Thank you for your informative comments regarding the disabled room and issues with using the bath. I have arranged to visit the mobility shop myself and will seek their advice on how we can improve our facilty.

Thank you for your valuable feedback.

Kind regards

Stayed for two nights 9th and 10th May. Pleasant spacious suite. Good sized sitting area large bathroom and bedroom. We were on a Great Little Breaks offer excellent value.
Although a bit "tired" in places certainly made up for it in what is important which is food! Good choice al la carte with generous portions. Breakfast was great as you didn't have to struggle with wretched temperamental toasters. Food cooked to order with again good choice as with cereals yoghurts etc.
Importantly attentive and pleasant staff. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and shall return !
Hotel is conveniently situated for the Ribble Valley Yorkshire Dales and even the Lakes.

Stayed at Foxfields recently whilst visiting family in the area. This was our first overnight stay in a hotel with our 6 month old son in tow. We stayed in one of the suites and were impressed with the amount of space. The hotel provided a travel cot, which was great as it saved us bringing our own. The decor was a bit dated and tired, but everything was clean and tidy and the bed was very comfy. The staff were all friendly and attentive. We used the pool which was lovely. Our son enjoyed splashing around in the warm water.

After staying over new year and having such a great time at the new years eve party we decided to make another visit. This time it was the Michael Buble tribute night and we had another superb stay with great food. The staff are very friendly and nothing is too much trouble. Stayed in a suite again which was ok with lots of space.
The next big night there is the Abba tribute night. Really tempted to go again we enjoy it that much.

We stayed at Foxfields for a wedding party. There was my husband, 1 year old son and myself. I only booked the week before as we were undecided as only live down the road. We were allocated a travel cot which was like new and they supplied the bedding which was lovely and clean. We were allocated a double superior suite it was massive.

The room was spotless and the bathroom looked like it had been renovated. There was a few little snags, like the balcony door didn't lock which if my little one had been older could have caused a problem but it didn't for us and we tripped the lights but reception came and sorted the problem within 5 mins.

The staff are really friendly and the towels and bad clothes are really clean and the room was really clean. The breakfast was really good.

The only thing this hotel could do with is upgrading the decor needs updating as there were buckets catching leaks and the building just looked tired.

But overall the stay was pleasant and the staff are great would stay again.

We stayed at the Foxfields 19th April whilst attending a wedding at a nearby hotel. Check in was not manned on arrival however after a short wait the pleasant receptionist arrived and we were checked in to the Annex, a nice short walk through lovely grounds. Room was fine if a little tired, however we would be out for most of the night so not an issue. When we inquired at reception as to where the bar was so we could have something to eat we were informed the bar did not open until 18.30, on a Saturday? perhaps staff were attending to the wedding party that was on on the day? We ate off site. Next morning breakfast mimicked the previous day with guests making a dash for breakfast items as they were brought out. I am sure the waitress was also the cook! Staff were pleasant but we will not be staying here again.

Dear MikeT422,

I'm sorry that the restaurant bar was closed on the afternoon of your stay. The function bar was open and we would happily have served you drinks in the lounge. I'll make sure in future that my staff make this clearer to guests.
Thanks for your valuable feedback.

Kind regards
