“Great start to Christmas”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 23, 2012 via mobile

Had a lovely evening meal with first class service and fantastic food. Started with salmon fishcakes and chicken in a blue cheese dressing. The mini fishcakes were really flavoursome and the chicken was just the right size for a starter with pancetta and salad which didn't make it too filling.

For our main we shared a fish medley; we've become addicted to this as it's different every time and includes a wide variety of fish and seafood from the menu. Our favourites were the catfish cheeks, prawns and scallops; we are eternally grateful to you for leaving the oysters out as we don't like them. We love the vegetable accompaniments underneath the fillets of fish such as crushed potatoes with the skins on, mashed potatoes and tomatoes, chorizo and beans (my favourite) as they compliment the fish well.

All in all a great night in a relaxing environment; we'll be back very soon. Thank you for making it such an enjoyable evening by looking after us so well.

“Wouldn't visit again”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 16, 2012

I've been to Captains Table twice now and haven't been overly impressed with either visit. Last night visit certainly put me off. The menu is average but over priced, the service is below average the atmosphere nothing special. Certainly not worth the money in my opinion.

“Lunchtime special is perfect.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 3, 2012 via mobile

Popped in for the lunchtime fish and chip special and yet again we bump into family already enjoying a meal. £5.75 for a smaller haddock, chips and peas is just right at lunch. If you're feeling brave you can have the regular fish and chips but to be honest it would be a challenge to eat it!

As usual the staff are warm and friendly, making us feel relaxed and at home. It was very busy but the service was efficient and food served quickly.

See you all soon over the Christmas holidays, Richard and Theresa x
