“Can you really complain at 28 quid........”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 6, 2014

I have stayed here a few times now, and only after staying somewhere far worse than this place, and for twice the money, have I felt the need to review it. First off, let's get the bad bits out of the way..
The rooms are a little on the small side, for a single person, it is absolutely fine. The decor of the rooms and general wear is a little dated. If I was spending a two week holiday here, this May concern me, but for an overnight motel at £28 it's fine. Most importantly rooms are clean and the service is great. I have an office in Bourne, and when I stay, they drop the keys off!
Wifi is great, beds always comfortable and I actually like the access arrangements where it is more like a motel than having to go through a front door late at night.
All in all, this is the prime example of a place doing something simple that they do well, they are not trying to be a hotel, but providing cheap and cheerful accommodation with good service at a price that will make me continue to go back.

we travelled with another Australian couple to visit Bourne where some of our ancestors originated, and Bourne has very little choice. initially there was shock!! Horror!! The room size, the colour scheme, the bathroom, the worn carpets etc etc. BUT.. It was clean, both rooms were ground floor, and our car was able to be parked right outside the door. And being a short walk from the main eateries... We discovered some excellent food at a couple of the local pubs. It also had the plus that there was a Laundry a short walk away to catch up on washing. And a Post Office close as well.

Stayed here for a night out in Bourne visiting friends. The B&B is perfectly located on a road parallel to the high street - easily accessed via a passageway. The twin room was compact, but ideal for a short stop-over. Digital TV, tea/coffee facilities, en-suite shower and toilet. Towels were provided. Although close to the high street, the room was quiet. The owners are very welcoming and friendly. A full English was served in the morning - cereals and toast were also available. The room was clean overall, though a bit dated. There is plenty of off-road parking, but it is a tight squeeze - anybody with a 4x4 will struggle. I expect to use this B&B again in the future.

Room Tip: Avoid room one as the gate attaches to its wall, I imagine that could be noisy.

I paid £28 a night for a twin room (room 1). I'd say it's excellent value. Although the place is very dated and a little run down in places you can't complain at anything for that price.

It was a reasonable size warm room, tv had plenty of channels, mini fridge, tea/coffee, hot shower.

Breakfast was great. Had a good fry up but cereal was available to.

It's very near centre of town so easy walk to pubs, restaurants and shops.

Given the low price, this b&b offers good value. Room basic & a bit dated, but clean - ditto for ensuite. Groundfloor position in a publically accessible spot meant that sleeping with a window open might worry some occupants. Full English breakfast excellent. Limited TV stations. Parking at side of house but could be a bit tight if several cars needed it. A bargain overnight stop if you're on a budget, but not wonderful for a longer stay.

We had a comfortable one night stay at this respectable guest house.

Our party consisted of myself, my wife & 20 year old daughter.

We booked what the owner calls the "family unit". This is part of the house with its own entrance. This leads into a small hallway with a room off each side, one double & one twin. Both rooms are en-suite (shower) and have tea & coffee making facilities & colour TV's.

The rooms are quite small but the space has been used very well, the twin room has the bonus of having a small fridge.

Although the decor wasn't anything to write home about the rooms were neat & tidy.

The full breakfast was excellent!

The cost of the family unit was £70 which we thought was good value (be even better for a family of four!)

The town of Bourne itself is a pleasant market town with a lovely park. Good place for an overnight stay.

  • Liked — Price, convenience very suitable for families
  • Disliked — Small rooms
