“Best by far!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 9, 2014

A friendly family run business with amazing food, fantastic wine selection and local ales.
As a vegetarian I usually struggle to find somewhere that has high quality original options, but the Anchor always has great veggi alternatives such as homemade asparagus tart or pumpkin ravioli!
With a great lunch selection, carvaries served three times a week, fantastic evening meals with an ever updated selection of specials as well as italien takeaways, there will always be something for everyone at the Anchor!

“Unbeatable”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 6, 2014

My family and I have ate here on many different occasions from a carvery on a Sunday, pub lunch on a Saturday afternoon to an intimate dinner on an evening. Each time the reception has been very warm and welcoming and the food at an excellent standard. All home cooked, tasty and good value for money.

“Friendly, efficient and good value too!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 18, 2014

My daughter and I ate here last Saturday evening and we were slightly concerned when we realised we were the only diners! We certainly needn't have worried though because from the moment we arrived we were made to feel really welcome and the service throughout the meal was excellent. We were even asked what kind of background music we preferred. The owner suggested an excellent red wine and the rump steaks we ordered were cooked to our taste and juicy. We shared a Mixed Bread Platter of 3 different types of warm 'artisan style' bread with olive oil and balsamic vinegar for dipping - delicious. The dessert menu was limited but still offered a good choice and the sticky toffee pudding we chose was a generous portion served with either custard, cream or ice cream and so good that every last crumb was scraped from the dish!

We live in the south of England and if we had eaten a similar quality meal in an average restaurant around here we would have paid twice what we paid at the Anchor Inn and we most likely would not have received anywhere near the same level of service. It's such a shame that the restaurant was so quiet and I urge anyone who is in the area to give it a try, you definitely won't regret it.

Made to feel welcome as soon as you walk in, lovely home cooked food (we had the Sunday carvery) and fast and friendly service. Highly recommended!
