We had a lovely stay in what was once a cottage. Friendly staff and beautiful breakfast. I loved the prune and apricot compote. Yum!
We ate out with friends that night but if you want to eat there booking is essential as they were fully booked all weekend

Organised a small family reunion at The Lake Isle Hotel and the staff couldn't have been more helpful and friendly. Nothing was too much trouble. Beds were very comfortable, food in the restaurant was superb and the location was perfect. Unfortunately our whirl pool bath didn't whirl which apparently could have been easily fixed. Perhaps a note to the effect that they are "sensitive" and easily "trip", so are easily fixed, would have resolved the problem. Apart from that I have no hesitation in recommending The Lake Isle Hotel & Restaurant. Abi was especially helpful - lovely personality and a great asset.

Stayed in room 10 overlooking the Main Street. Very comfortable room with a jacuzzi bath and nice seating area with a settee where you can enjoy lovely home made biscuits with your tea or coffee whilst reading or watching the flat screen TV. The bed was very comfortable and we could hear no noise from the street due to very efficient double glazing.
The staff throughout our stay were polite, attentive and friendly. The restaurant was superb. Wonderful atmosphere and excellent food accompanied by a excellent choice of wines. This was a fine dining experience which we will want to repeat. We had a wonderful experience at Lake Isle and it was excellent value for money.

Spent a night at this hotel 20th. April. Looked good on the website but this place is absolutely fantastic. Stayed in one of the courtyard rooms. It was a good size with whirlpool bath and excellent decor. Immaculate. We ate in the restaurant and the menu was excellent and the quality of food and presentation as good as anywhere we've eaten. Breakfast was also of a very high standard. Staff were friendly and skilled in what they were doing and the manageress ran everything like clockwork. Would definitely go again and would recommend it everyone. Cannot wait to go again. And to top it all Uppingham is very nice

Stayed one night midweek and have to say we were slightly disappointed. We had a deluxe cottage room in the courtyard, which was nice and quiet, comfortable and warm. However, the whirlpool bath didn't work (and once you're in, it's a bit late to call the manager to fix it) and there were some big cobwebs in the ceiling corners. We'd obviously just got unlucky, but these are small things which affect your perception of a place, but to be fair, when we reported these failings, the manager too seemed very disappointed and I suspect will rectify them. We also had dinner, which I would only rate as good, and not of the gushingly high standard of other reviews - only the level of a good gastropub, not of a 2 rosette restaurant. Wine was a tad expensive for the level of dining experience. Breakfast was very good.Staff and service throughout were excellent.

If I were recommending a place for someone to stay within 10 miles or so of Rutland Water, I would instead send them north to the Olive Branch at Clipsham, which is a superior dining experience, a nicer dining environment (more olde pub) and has nicer rooms.

The hotel is conveniently located in the center of a charming old village. There is parking in the rear of the hotel. Staff was delightful. Room was comfortable and clean, with a large en suite bathroom. Food in the restaurant was delicious. When you reserve, staff asks if you would like to book a table for dinner. That's not because they need the business, but because it's a very popular restaurant. Breakfast was terrific Whatever else you order for breakfast, be certain to order the "homemade museli (granola)." It's about the best I've had. The only suggestion I have is that the décor of the rooms could use some updating. However, I do recommend the hotel and restaurant and will stay there again.
