“As good as ever”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2012

Visited this hotel again, for a night away from everything. As always very good. Beautiful room, attentive staff, good food. Clarins toiletries. Port , cheese straws, and complimentary fruit in room.....as well as usual slippers, bathrobes etc. Luxury all the way.

Room Tip: Any of the main house luxury rooms are really good. Milton very special.

Having heard good reviews of Kilworth House I was subsequently shocked with the level of service and standards. The first issue came when I rang to make a reservation, i was on hold for forty five minutes before finally being able to make my reservation.
Upon arriving my partner an I were left standing in reception for a long period of time. Upon the arrival of a member of staff, the first impressions left something to be desired. We were met by a poorly turned out and decidedly dim looking fellow, whose manner of greeting matched his personal appearance. This seemed to be common for the staff, as many appeared to be bedraggled teenagers whom were clearly uneducated in the etiquette of hospitality.
The general mangers appeared to be arrogant to say the least, but as to why they were arrogant after the level of service received, i am still unsure.
The upside came with the food, i cannot fault the ability or skill of the chef, the food was divine.
Despite the lovely appearance of the building and its surroundings, the level of staff turnout and behavior ruined the trip for us.

We went with friends and dined in the former Orangey.

The atmosphere was good and the environment was both unusual and yet warm. The food was good if a little unimaginative but the wine was poor - perhaps we choose poorly.

The service was good although towards the end of the evening we had to take action to get service.

Worth a visit to a very nice environment in wonderful grounds - probably even better in the summer.

I took my wife for lunch to this excellent hotel ,itwas a thursday but not busy .The orangery restaurant is a lovely setting and the food is not expensive at lunchtime ,however in the evening and on sundays it is more expensive ,proper table linen etc after all everyone you only get what you pay for .I thoroughly recommend this venue.

You drive up through a long tree lined drive, eventuall reaching the carparks at the top, if you wish for valet parking ring the hotel in 5-10 minutes in advance and they will be waiting to help you with your bags and then park your car. Check in was very polite and an offer to show you to your room was made. We made our own way to the Oscar Wilde room as it was only up the grand staircase. We opened the door and were blown away by the room and the view across the fields. The room was immaculate, with nice little touches like, fudge, cheese straws, apples and sloe gin. We had been in our room for about 5 minutes and we had a call from reception asking us if everything was ok and did we need any refreshments. The room was very big with a bathroom almost as big. My only niggle about the room was the tv, because the bed had a foot board you could not lay and watch it, you had to be propped up! We dined in the orangery as it was a better menu for us, my husband is a very fussy eater! It was beautiful and presented very nicely. We decided to have some spa treatments and they had been booked before we arrived. Check in for the spa is with reception and the therapist comes to the lounge to collect you. You are then walked to the treament room which was very warm and calming. We could not fault this hotel in any way at all from the reception welcome to departure, everyone was very happy and accomodating, nothing was too much trouble, very, very polite staff who made our weekend absolute pleasure from start to finish. We will be visiting again.

Room Tip: Pay the extra for a luxury room, they are so worth it!

This was our second stay here, the last having been in July 2011. Again, we were not left disappointed in any way - the only negative aspect being that we had to leave! The check in staff were extremely polite and helpful. Our room (Keats room) was stunning and unbelievably quiet and very cosy. Everything was just perfect. The room and bathroom were spotlessly clean and the bed had been turned down for the night (we checked in late), the room was toasty with a few lights left on making it so welcoming. We had dinner in the Orangerie, the staff were extremely professional and are the personification of what customer service should be. Breakfast is also served in the Orangerie - it has everything one could ask for, just perfect. We are coming back in December and looking forward to it very much.

Room Tip: Go and treat yourself and opt for one of the luxury rooms - you will not be disappointed.

A luxurious experience in all aspects. Grand decor and high quality furnishing and finishing. Thoughtful touches, including Clarins products in the bathroom. Very comfortable rooms, delightful orangery to dine in, well cooked and presented breakfast & afternoon meal, turn down service and even a complimentary cuddly sheep waiting outside the room with spring water when we retired to bed! Not cheap, but for a 'treat' a very highly commended experience.
